iPhones and Gel Nail Polish Greatest Inventions?

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

TerezaNailsEvery week for many years it was back to the nail salon … no problem REALLY as I always have and always will be a well attended to feminist lady. But oh my, also being a REALLY busy and productive multitask type woman had me daunted by the hours of waiting for polish to dry and then the days when chips made me look unkempt became at times just ridiculous. Still wanting to “look good while doing good” being my mantra, I went to these weekly appointments without fail and to be blunt enjoyed the reprieve from my happy, but demanding life. Problem was when adding monthly hair coloring, almost daily professional blow outs and all the other must do maintenance time spent was becoming troublesome – well now, a few years ago a short cut so to speak came along in my life and that was gel nail polish. No fuss and only a few minutes had me dried and ready to go for another two weeks with lovely hands at the ready.

Now let us discuss the Apple fairies … these darlings, along with tech genius hubby placed in my lovely manicured hands the tool of a lifetime, my iPhone. My emails, my social media sites, the many magazines, newspapers and publications I read daily, along with my own blog and online Flipboard magazine, Teréza Style, at my well manicured fingertips. Oh yes, of course there are the phone calling and text messages capabilities to be obviously grateful for too. Now I am never out of touch with family, friends, acquaintances and colleagues and that brings me REAL joy and productivity to my already blessed and full life. Of course, there is wee bit of down side to this glorious piece of modernity – I am even now more a 24/7 gal.  As with all things in my complicated life, hubby and I have turned that too into a positive by having my daily Judaism  prayer schedule of Talmud and Torah early a.m. study sent via my phone’s emails, my yoga coach and personal trainer available via face time, my ever present dear and close friend/amazing and brilliant attorney connected to all sites and publisher and publicist reachable at any time as well. So you see besides my REAL life, Magic Jeanine Assistant, there is my iPhone to help me be all that I REALLY want and can be in my life.

Now look my dear readers it must be clear this is not REALLY about one or another particular item that makes my life easier – no indeed, it is about time and convenience and not being a Luddite. Many miscreant types out of envy have made much of my having my own REAL hairdresser – this person was mostly one individual for the last ten years and before that another and now one or two new wonderful and talented individuals. In fact at various times in my life, my hairdresser came almost daily to my home and that is the plan again as we are soon moving into our new homes. Yes it is a luxury but not entirely as it affords me the ability to get coiffed and get going to appointments, meetings and events in a timely fashion. Why every professional hairdresser colorist in my life now knows to have a towel ready during process to wipe my iPhone as those long shared appointments include my needing to make calls and such. See it saves time and all right I will admit that I enjoy the bonus of it keeping me looking well styled too.

I see no difference between these two referenced conveniences that lend toward my well being and the home gyms I have always had to less or more extent … including the sweet gestured one my husband set up nearly ten ago before our marriage at our first shared home. No question that my elliptical trainer makes my daily workout out easier because it is at the ready in my home. I am a runner, a hiker, a fly fisher person and sail – all leading to wash and go hair at times and so no need for any of you dear readers to see me as the coiffed sit around being pampered type. Likewise, while fun for some things, my iPhone is also a work tool that allows the business ventures my husband and I work on, my upcoming books and public relations necessitated involvements to be completed. The nails – well that too makes me not only tidy but ready to go at all times. I do not [nor does my husband] consider my salon manicures, pedicures, waxing, facial, etc. a “luxury” – while yes nice that we can afford these, a equally must do circumstance that contributes to my overall well being. I am nearly unable to fully make articulable how important it REALLY is for both men and women to not consider such things in life frivolous – for a life considered worthy of self care is a life truly able to give to others.

In conclusion [love writing that], I actually believe that all progress that allows for efficiency is a wonderful thing … the REAL trick is as with everything in else in ones life – balance. One must balance and stay aware of just how much each and every factor prevails in our daily existence – no one thing should overwhelm nor dictate our being. So my darling readers enjoy and utilize your smart phones and such – for the ladies, I suggest including professional salon manicures and pedicures too but I also suggest you include as I do, to make sure nature is part and parcel of your life schedule. Relax, take a hike, walk or swim – as the saying goes “take time to smell the roses” and if you need to find the perfect nature spot, well use your iPhone to Google that too!

P.S. In my memoir, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Lifeand more complete book, Life Journey of Heiress Mommy all the REAL details of how and why I am/always will be an eclectic high maintenance but self sufficient feminist will be shared … it is an exhausting but REALLY full and REALLY blessed life story!

  1. However, the key to being successful is to not fall behind and keep up with the work.
Another good rule is to avoid sarcasm or other attempts at
humor (such as poking fun at a student’s words). When it comes to online college,
    procrastination is your definite downfall.
