REALLY United States of America or Not ??? — #PrayForOklahoma

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

PrayForOklahoma-pictures-630x421Listen up America: NYC on 9/11, Oklahoma City bombing before that, New Orleans last decade, Boston bombing recently, now Oklahoma Tornado, daily murders of kids in inner cities, mass shootings at schools and on and on and on … we are NOT red or blue States and the partisan politicians can go %#@* themselves – tell them now that we are ALL Americans and we care for each other well. Enough is enough – damn the dividers – lets stop all the divisions immediately. Our children are hurting and we adults need to wise up NOW – because we have REAL problems my dears and no bogus or faux political diatribe will save us.

Yesterday (20 May 2013) people – including children – died in Oklahoma  from severe tornadoes … homes and businesses were destroyed.  Now you tell me if political affiliation matters to those folks – one bet is that the answer is an unqualified no. Now I will tell you what is a REAL and true fact – that the aspect where politicians insanely deny climate change and the need for government programs to address such issues does affect these circumstances prior and in the actual events. You see the REAL truth is that no amount of bullshit on Capital Hill will deter a weather system from causing disasters – nope – words are not enough to address REAL issues … we as a people must insist on sensible and reasonable action and reaction to deal with all our national problems. Education in every sense is paramount to an informed populace – we MUST not let extremist viewpoints deter us from the tasks at hand my dear brethren. We are destroying ourselves simply to support one or another political party – does that make any sense? Is the blood shed  from disasters or terrorist attacks branded Republican or Democrat? Yes I am using hyperbole – but apparently that is what it takes to bring us back to reality in this great nation. Dear G-d, we just spent a few weeks having unnecessary Congressional hearings with “much to do about nothing” delineation on what now turns out to be made up emails in relationship to the Benghazi attacks last year and IRS standard operating procedures. Now do not get me wrong – I fully support government oversight on such matters but I also support the same for climate and safety issues – all in REAL and educated fashion however – with no lies or exaggerated self interest at play.

The greatest times in this nation’s history were those found in a unified effort – a oneness of purpose. I am NOT naive and I happily and proudly admit to being a politically Liberal oriented American but I want joined efforts to keep America great and whole. Same for the entire world but if the United States falters, so will the rest. So lets get our act together and do what needs to be done, without all the left and right diatribes … let us stop being the political pimps call girls – you know what I mean, right? We the citizenry are being played in that the profiteers put us front and center to do the bidding so they can either stay in office or reap great rewards – sounds like prostitution to me. What say all of you???

P.S. In my year end (2013) memoir, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! much will be shared in relationship to my born and bred activist ideals. For now join me in helping our latest national tragedy by going to the site here on How to Help Oklahoma – it has a list of where and how to help/donate funds and PLEASE send your prayers too!!!

… oh yes. one more thing: earlier this morning, when I changed my Facebook timeline to a photo asking for prayers for Oklahoma tornado victims, some schmuck suggested that I “get up off my knees” because prayer does nothing. Well now, #1. I also asked for donations and #2. I explained that my faith of Judaism sees pray as an active thing AND we do not pray on our knees – I personally never get down on my knees – not to pray at least. What? I mean to exercise or kiss the children, pet our doggie and whatever I do get on my knees occasionally but never in prayer!

The Gay Economist

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

jmk-keynesLong a personal fan [like my erudite Liberal parents before me] of Keynesian economic theory, I was daunted by the recent Niall Ferguson controversy where he suggested Keynes theories invalid on account of that famed economist having been gay and childless. The suggestion was the Keynes could not have been forward thinking about the future of day to day economics as he had no progeny to care about. Well now – REALLY one must ask? Let me begin by firmly stating that Keynes actually cared a great deal about the long run consequences of financial policies – just not at the risk of destroying current day stability for the nation involved or the world. With that REAL fact out of the way – we must give consideration to the prejudicial tonality of Harvard Professor Ferguson’s assertions. Surely as we are all informed and directed by personal narratives, so was John Maynard Keynes but this does not in any way denote the rhyme nor reason for his scholarship on the subject of economics. Let us examine the implications of lifestyle choices on topics of great importance and while doing so inform ourselves on those determined to minimize that which they find offensive or incorrect through misconceived ideas.

Dismissive attitudes make examining REAL and pertinent ideas almost impossible … you have heard the excuse of he or she thinks that because he or she is such and such. Silly when one considers that each of us come to conclusive positions through learning and experience. Yes it is imperative to set aside as best possible our own life biography when postulating that which affects others through our professional work; even then,  without a doubt who we are in private life will influence that which we pursue in work. My own take on economic theories mirror Keynes – I too think the private sector while valuable and primary must be assisted in down turns by public or government programs and funds. Wow – me a confirmed heterosexual and the mostly [yes mostly in that he married a woman he loved a great deal] Keynes share philosophies – me and many rather famous heterosexuals, like Dr. Paul Krugman, etc.. Now in all fairness to Professor Ferguson, it is a truism that one can be guilty of self prejudices and thus put forth those theories that lay way for self aggrandizing. This quandary needs to be a matter of investigatory observation in an attempt to have only the purist of adversary rhetoric added to discussions of weighty significance.

The important economist Milton Friedman thought Keynes “naive” but is that because like myself he was Jewish and Keynes not? Remember that I have already stated that I and my Jewish parents were very much of the Keynes school of thought. Well maybe – just maybe our shared faith influenced that which each of us and all Jewish people see as important but then why do other Jews think opposite? Hmm … complex and yet simple – we are definitely the products of our environments however never to be set aside as irrelevant due to this or that ancestral history or genetic predisposition – like being homosexual. The world community is diverse and magnificent in its mosaic fabric – too important are the issues of finance, health and welfare to deny opportunity to all and many able to contribute. So gay, straight or other – come one and all to the table – we need each person to be seated and REALLY involved!!!

P.S. In my year end memoir, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! much will be explained as to the how and why  life has afforded me concern and input concerning things like economics, sociology and such – a REALLY interesting life story if I say so myself!

What Detroit SHOULD Learn From Philadelphia!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

Detroit

I was shown a Twitter comment a few days ago suggesting that places like New York were “overrated” and so that Michigan born individual suggested that it was best to head back to Detroit. Why yes – that is if you are going to do as the late Tony Goldman did and now his daughter … that is to REALLY address and not faux champion the problems in that once iconic Michigan city. Recently (April 2013) at the inaugural meeting of Project for Public Spaces at Westin Book Cadillac, downtown Detroit investor, Dan Gilbert and now CEO, Jessica Gold Srebnick , seemed posed to offer that REAL dedication to the basic and core history – one might say flavor – of this Midwestern city. What was discussed in needing to be foremost in any redevelopment plans was the creative and herculean effort such an under taking requires. May I add that it seems quite obvious the fawning influx of middle class young suburbanites and surely temporary inner city Detroit residents is NOT the solution. Like my beloved hometown of Philadelphia, like New York City and Miami – you need REAL devotees of a place in order to save and then grow that community. Love I tell you is not only the answer for a personal life but REAL love is needed to save a city and to make it blossom.

Location,  location, location is the well known mantra used as instruction when one buys a home or starts a business and it is also the geographical dictate that often helps decide the destiny of a city, town or community. Some places like the historical city of Philadelphia lucked out by having itself center East Coast – near to the world’s REAL capital, New York City, close to this nation’s government center, Washington, D.C. and easy travel launch to the rest of the world. Both New York City and Philadelphia are blessed to be the center for a ring of REAL thriving neighborhoods – middle and working class boroughs and suburbs are logistically attached through public transportation and even decent highway, bridges, and tunnels. Add the plethora of universities, medical centers, major companies, art/entertainment venues and such – these two cities thrive where places like Detroit can never hope to in just the commerce and activity quotient alone. However, not only location make these East Coast cities more stable than its Michigan poor cousin – no, it is also the REAL strength of diversity from nationalities, ethnic groups, races, social economic levels that forge a stronger and more resilient platform for sustained growth. Not always peacefully coexisting to be sure but still interacting and hence interdependent are the varied demographics of places like NYC, Philadelphia, Boston and Miami. You know the reality is – in it together for better or worse – what forces these historically prominent places to go the distance and make things work no matter the obstacles.

Oh baby, hard work is certainly part and parcel of making a city be relevant and vibrant. Government and civic oversight a must in development and sustaining of our nation’s oldest cities. My own family and many friends were and still are at the forefront of Philadelphia prospering. The City of Brotherly Love was blessed from G-d to have [for two terms beginning in 1991] as its Mayor, Ed Rendell – he who demanded, cajoled and more the business types into doing the right thing to make the city a destination world class place. In my memoir, Heiress Mommy …  A Modern Super Woman Life! there will be so much to relate my very essence to  the city of my birth, Philadelphia. Almost DNA for me is how distinctly important that city was and is to my family history, successes and narrative.  Not nostalgia as many reminiscence about the “good old days” when Detroit prospered on the determinate factor involved in its being the automobile manufacturing center of the world but instead East Coast cities have morphed and expanded while keeping the respectful denotation of past glories and accomplishments. There is moral imperative in keeping a city center vital despite the suburbanization of its population – not at all different than acknowledging those relatives that went before each generation and by hard work made more success possible for their offspring. I am snobbery to a fault  in thinking but probably correct at the same time in the belief that only a REALLY astute and sophisticated population can overcome narrow minded preoccupation to allow the inclusiveness necessary to work, school and seek entertainment in a heterogeneous city center. Why even the Midwest city of Chicago has despite its center of country locale  managed to sustain a panache – a desirous draw to new and old residence alike. Why then not Detroit? Easy answer for me is that the groups that comprised a thriving motor city at one time just never REALLY worked together in effort to make it better – no, they just segregated to their bedroom communities and dismissed “those people” as the “other“. Come on readers,  you know its true … race relations and prejudice by the less than intellectual and far from progressive white middle class damned that city and still makes it nearly impossible to reconfiguration it into something modern and valuable. My wise husband was born and bred in Michigan – near Detroit and is stunned and very impressed with the difference here on the East Coast; he fell in love with inclusive intellectual awareness that Philadelphia offers its many citizens. In discussions and attempted analysis my husband’s first hand Detroit experiences have allowed him to surmise that the prejudicial and minimal scoped attitude of most suburban Detroit residences has lead to its demise. As I have in other blog posts,  I must mention my own personal awareness and battles with the lesser type bedroom community dwellers from that area: for these strip mall shoppers, it is that despite a few budget trips aboard and for a few a four year State college education or community college for others, they remain narrow minded and destructive. Their kind would never consider helping inner city Detroit minority youths and yet are willing to do an occasional Haiti “mission” in order to get their once in a lifetime photo opportunity. Is it in the water hubby and I often joke? Why here on the East Coast or places like Chicago do even those without benefit of  travel or higher education seem so much more erudite and willing to embrace REAL life possibilities than their similar types in the Detroit area? Is that a matter of location too or could it be the suburb’s ghetto attitude that you are born, live, work, school and die in that place being just fine that which has so limited the possibilities for REAL achievement in Detroit? All or some of these reasons need to be outed, dissected and addressed if ever in the words of Motown great Stevie Wonder there is “living, living just enough for the city” is to happen!

Time for a REAL Change of Climate!!!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

Earth day 2013 blogWe have always had severe weather – just read the Bible.“,  “I remember one Winter 30 years ago when we rarely wore coats on the East Coast“, “How do explain all the snow this past year? ” … yes indeed each of these and more are the far too often heard responses when discussing global warming issues. Now these ideas are not always from the extremist climate change deniers – no, actually many are surprisingly from rather moderate and truth be told, confused individuals. REALLY troubling is that most are hearing lie filled and very unscientifically sound rhetoric from the naysayers – those hell bent for a variety of mostly nefarious reasons to deter action toward solving the planet’s environmental crisis. Add in the ridiculous anti-climate change partisan political diatribes and oh my, the end result is that nothing nearing a unified global effort to deal with Earth’s resource destruction is happening. Why the hell REAL science has gotten political is far beyond my ability to comprehend – not saying I don’t understand the base motivations of finances, power and such but I am at a loss to digest fully the whys of any one wanting to leave unattended environmental problems that affect each and every one of us. Climate change denial moves from much necessary skepticism regarding such matters to the usurping tonality that belies the almost frightening misrepresentation of REAL facts.

Money talks and there is loads of it behind the so called contrarian scientist – these are the professionals being funded by groups wanting to protect profits they feel will be lessened by government imposed regulations on items like pollution. We need to create energy industry jobs from the how to conserve and create new sources of energy programs; we also can provide many employment opportunities for those working on and constructing REAL methods of climate control. I am in no way an extremist do-gooder type – not in any way do I insist all industry seize to exist in order to protect the environment. Instead I REALLY believe profit and protection for all can occur through a  sensible business and societal plan. Regulation is not the demon plan – no, no, no – it is through a regulatory system that we achieve controls and reasonable government oversight to instruct industry on the methods best proven to protect consumers and the environment.

Much more frightening –  at times belly laughter inspiring – are the wing nuts who seem to think climate change concerns and especially the United Nations initiatives on the subject are anti-Christ. These “end of days” zealots profess and I think REALLY believe that controlling the destruction of our Earth will deny their quested “second coming of Christ”. Well now, my Jewish faith teaches the polar opposite – we are dictated to be REAL stewards of the environment, as G-d created and gifted it to us and wants its safe keeping. No matter your chosen faith or lack there of – I am not willing to destroy this planet so another person’s religious desires might be achieved and besides the lineage from Earth destroyed to heavenly nirvana makes zero sense [just saying]. REAL science must rule the day on the subject of climate change and global warming … neither left/Liberal nor Right/Conservative should ever be allowed to impose their self motivated ideals on this REALLY imperative matter. The health and welfare of every living thing – human, animal and plant – depends on a concerted and intelligent effort to correct and control the destruction of our environment.

On a REALLY personal note – my late Father, Abraham H. Solomon,  was an early environmental activist; so much so that I included reference to his nearly life long efforts in dealing with this issue in my eulogy for him. I myself was at the first Earth Day celebration in 1970 – in Philadelphia. The children in my family always being the benefactors of my annual April tutorial and books/items to help make Earth Day fun. In my year end (2013) book, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! I will share much of how my life was altered by such matters of REAL science. For now, lets PLEASE work together – wise up and do our best to make Earth safe for all living things – learn about and enjoy this great gift from G-d on this Earth Day, 22 April 2013 !!!

Israel @65

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

Israel_65A celebration of the birthing a nation – modern day Israel is celebrating 65 miraculous, amazing and gloried years. 2013 or 5773 (Hebrew) denotes a prospering and ever more world important Middle East country … no longer simply the homeland of my Jewish people, Israel is a tech center, arts venue, education mecca and vacation destination for all people. All who visit come away astonished at the level of sophistication that Israel presents – magnificent is the only apt description of this tiny and strong willed country. No one should think it naive when I state Israel strong now and forever … it is determined by G-d and assured by men and women who will not let Israel go asunder – we, the Jewish people of this world and those who support us will NEVER let Israel vanish from this world. You must visit – you too – no matter faith or national origin, will come way awe struck and in love with my proud ancestral homeland.

Without the obvious considerations – the facts of Israel being the homeland for my religion and ancestral heritage of Judaism – one must marvel at the social and economic growth of this REAL democracy during its short 65 year existence. Israel is not singularly a place for nor of one particular culture – yes, it is our Jewish homeland but many faiths, ethnicity and national origin people live and prosper there. Israel is a true international place … the business and financial aspects are multi national and welcoming. Scientific research, technological development  and academic scholarship nearly unprecedented. Education always foremost in Jewish life, is a mainstay of everyday life in Israel … no matter the surrounding stresses, the population adheres to high education standards and this, along with research and development in areas of science has produced unequaled major medical and world changing/life saving break through treatments. Stunning is the only superlative that correctly denotes the absolute abundance of progress in this small and most days besieged nation – where else and when else in history has such evidence of G-d’s REAL blessings been demonstrated. A miracle?  – perhaps but also a fierce and directed sense of righteous  placement and intrinsic knowing that this is as it should be allows for such accomplishments.

I love the idea of eclecticism – many of my blog posts have referenced my own family and individual life as being just that. Not surprising to me that Israel is that too – a multiple faceted and many disciplined nation. Art, fashion, science, technology, ecology, education, medicine,  religion,  travel,  music,  agriculture,  food,  entertainment,  textiles, architecture,  politics,  charity,  international involvement,   etc.,  etc.,  etc.  –  exhausting and dizzying but REAL and true as a description of all Israel does and offers. I am aware of sounding prideful – why not I ask – for is not this a place to boast of? The issue more important to discuss is why all REALLY good people do not see this as a blessed template from which all nations can learn – glean lessons? Israel should be studied and mimicked – for if we/they can survive and rally to such accomplished heights despite surrounded by sworn enemies, then why not others? Herein lies one of my constant refrains – if you read me regularly or know me personally, then you are aware of my personal gloried story of rallying and overcoming much – my thwarting of naysayers and defeating of nemesis only to REALLY have it all. Yet I, as Israel, remain vigilant and humble – always acknowledging those that assisted and made possible achievements from which I benefit greatly. Israel owes great debt to the United States but it is a mutually benefactor relationship and no one need think that anything less than synopsis between the two rules the day.

In my memoir, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! I will share some of my 14 trips to Israel details – my plans to have a property there some day and why I was born on account of Israel being too. For now I say, HAPPY & BLESSED Birthday Israel … I REALLY LOVE YOU!!!

The Congo is Being Raped!!!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

rape-in-the-congoIn a pit – a hole in the ground … you are a fifteen year old Congolese girl who has been kidnapped from her village and now is being repeatedly raped, day after day after day. Now pregnant, the rapist soldiers release you and your family seeing the “bump” evidence of your pregnancy reject you as they blame you for bringing this situation of shame to them. True story and tragically not unique at all in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The REAL question is – why the hell we,  the Western world,  are not doing more to stop these atrocities? True there are international and United States, as well as European Union efforts to address this horrific situation but not enough – not nearly anything close to  a really concerted effort has begun to stop these heinous crimes against women, girls, men, boys and even babies. That is right – you read correctly – I tell you babies are being raped by Congo rebels and regulation soldiers too. The Congo has become the rape capital of the world, with most reported and obviously some not, acts of sexual violence on this planet. Now – do I have you full attention? Allow me to have you gaped mouth and cringing because if that is what it takes to make us all REALLY care – then here I go folks. I am NOT going to do the politically correct warning so that your delicate sensibilities might be spared from what I am going to share here – read it and know this effects every human being. Yes  – I tell you the REAL truth in saying there are massive predatory atrocities going on in the act of raping Congo citizens now – today – as you read this blog post. What are you going to do about it my dear readers?

Between all the many newspapers and periodicals I read, activists and human rights organizations I belong to and support – my knowledge of the Congo and similar atrocities has been long standing. Add to this the fact that BBC radio and NPR are in my homes and cars as my constant companions – well there you have the barrage of horrors I have been willingly exposing myself to concerning matters such as rape in the Congo. Hearing reports of infant and toddler girls being ganged rape and left for dead by boy soldiers and grown militia men is at times mind numbing. One asks over and over again – how and why? Trust me – there at times I just must put such REALLY daunting matters out of my mind and hence I do not expect you to do any differently. We all have REAL lives to lead – many pressing personal and professional tasks to attend to and often our own emergencies. However, no decent person can turn the proverbial “blind eye” to something as inhumane as mass and deliberate raping of an entire population. If you do turn away, not only will humanity suffer but that damn “slippery slope” of them today and G-d knows who tomorrow comes into play. A world where raping is the norm because you think “well – that happens there because they are  _____ ” is exactly how we all get diminished and I do not only mean in spirit. The Congo scenario is evil and equally destructive in many areas of international concern. To let an entire territory be ruled and controlled by rapist thugs depletes humanity and natural resources and financial support, growth and development is just global insanity. Yes readers – this is a tale of human destruction but also a national and international economic development – for a nation can not prosper where rape is massive and common place. Shocked are you that I am bringing financial topics into a post about rape? You betcha I am because that and sometimes only that gets action going from the powers that are in charge.

By the way, if your however  subtle and still unacknowledged racism is informing you even in the most remote parts of your mind that this is happening because it is Africa – stop because I will remind you of the mass rapes and murders in the Bosnian War by Serbians against Albanian Muslim women and girls. All right now that we have settled that issue – what say we all about the possible and yes unintended complicity that the United States and other donor nations have by continuing to give money to the Congo despite being quite aware of the rape and violence there? U.N. Envoy Rice faced these exact questions from human rights organizations and diplomats concerned that the Obama administration was not doing enough to  deal effectively with the many layers of corruption and violence – including mass rapes – in the Congolese nation. Please understand that I am REALLY not naive nor a knee jerk Liberal, “feel good” humanitarian. No indeed, but instead a somewhat sophisticated and REALLY astute observer that fully realizes not all international interplay is simply a matter of bad guys versus G-d and the angels. Surely we can not just pull back all aid in hopes that will end the atrocity in the Congo but what we can and must do is put the screws to these bastards. You know what I mean – not just tough talk but REAL action against the perpetration factions. Dear G-d … we bombed entire swaths of Iraq in response to our tragic 9/11 attack. Are you telling me we can not use our mighty military U.S.A. and allies force to stop baby rapist? Come on folks – lets get REAL as they say. We can and we should act decisively in the Congo or anywhere else where horrific violence is happening. If we do not – the proverbial “bite on our ass” will happen  because voids will be filled and not be friends of ours. We leave open the REAL possibility that extremist will seize the moment – get in there and save the day, only to then co-op that besieged population into become sycophantic tools that are then also enemies of ours. Why not – after all, who would you appreciate if saved from such horrors? Those that gave marginal assistance and lip service or those that used brute force to destroy your rapist? We were slow to get involved in an effort to stay the tide of  Rwanda genocide  until 1994 and then the United States and others were reticent to intervene and stop the horrors in Bosnia-Herzegovina until 1995.  I can tell you that both made me passionately irate as the human detritus accumulated during those major world crisis. Admittedly being a Jew who has maternal Albanian Muslim family made me even more acutely aware of that situation but in no way was my purely logical application standards tweaked by that part – no, instead I explained to all who would listen, that the world did not want those peoples to be left with absolutely zero choice but to allow our sworn enemies to be their salvation and new found friends as we left the door for such results wide open.  Fortunate for us and I am proud to say, Albanian Muslims defied that outcome and remained secular and not embittered – that burdened community found appreciation and hope in the eventual U.S. and ally involvement – deciding they were more nationalistically connected to the non Muslims in their country, then outside extremist Islamist. Anyone want to roll the dice on the Congo being similar in results? Not me!

Note: In my soon memoir,  Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life!  all the amazing details on how I came to feel like a REAL citizen of this world came to be  – from my multi-faith and uniquely blended ethnic background to the “womb to tomb” activism that this life has presented to me!

Austerity Bursts Our Bubbles!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

Liquidity BubbleMortgages, School Loans, Auto Financing, Retirement Investment plans and so on and so on – are all a matter of “spending money to make money” type scenario. We each – in one or another form – do just that. I wrote a blog during the 2012 Presidential campaign, “Why Little Billy and Susie REALLY Want You to Vote for Obama 2012!” [1 November 2012] which expresses in a rather satirical tonality this same idea – it was and still is a REAL and true fact that families and nations need to extend themselves financial in order to grow and even more importantly, so that they do not contract – no make that not collapse.

All economies are REALLY nothing more than a “swap and trade” program … you know what I mean: I “swap” you this money [pay for something] and then you “trade” with me [sell me that thing or service]. I see all economies – personal, national and international as nothing more than a barter system – yes indeed,  we are negotiating trades at many levels but now so called “Austerity Plans” are disallowing entire constituency purview at that table. What is one to do when they have nothing to offer as an exchange tool – easy answer is nothing at all. Hence the cycle seizes to exist and the economic platform collapses. I am not suggesting nor does current and not even historical evidence support unbridled or unchecked expenditure as the path to economic growth – no, instead a measured and deliberately planned out budget that includes seeding the economy is the REAL answer. America did just that under FDR to reverse The GREAT Depression in 1930’s … there were government work programs that not only gave salaries to previously desperately unemployed people but also infrastructure developments funded by the government that until today benefit us all financially. Think of roads, buildings, public works that still give access to businesses and more – all here today because the FDR plan spent money then.

Just this past week our U.S. Treasury Secretary, Jacob Lew met with the European Union to suggest their austerity program be more “growth friendly“. See – told you – friendly means not contracting drastically by pulling funds from that particular nation’s working economy. One ask then, “Where do you get that money to spend in the first place?” Obviously nation’s borrow from others more wealthy – no one REALLY calls in those bank debts as it is obvious the symbiotic relationship makes those bank notes not easily foreclosed on. Yes it is a “wink and note” interplay – nothing REALLY wrong with that as long as no one cheats, steals or obfuscates the truth of the matter. In other words, when the country who is the borrower takes the “loan” from those in lending position, transparency must rule the day. Problems like the Bubble in Ireland or here this past decade in the United States was with those amongst us not adhering to honest practices and procedures. Simply put – it must be the old case of “dollar in, dollar out” to REALLY work. There is plenty of money on this planet – corporations are well entitled to profits, as are their shareholders, however the almost “hoarding” current status that companies are demonstrating is not acceptable – baby we need to circulate the currency or everyone will eventually lose out.

I like to think of myself as Liberal capitalist … yes a bit conflicted in current rhetorical definition. As my parents before me, I REALLY believe in wealth and growth – the entrepreneurial spirit a part of my DNA to be sure. But also like my parents before me, I also REALLY believe in fair tax paying – all contributing a fair share and not earning or gaining wealth by denying others theirs. A “living wage” and not a minimum wage is needed so that working people can not only survive but thrive and thus spend in venues that then earn and pay taxes. An easy – almost childlike – “round robin” plan.  It is important for me to state here that I am not a fan of the self titled  “Occupy Wall Street” movement/ideas and conversely, I believe that if a bank or any one else is REALLY “too big to fail“, then that entity might just be “too big to exist“. Still I favored the Auto Bail-Out, as well as the bank bail out [TARP] that this last decade presented – I REALLY feel that both President Bush and President Obama did the right thing, for otherwise [well documented] we would have slipped – no make that fell hard into another BIG Depression – possibly full throttle economic collapse.

Look folks – this is hugely complicated and panic, blame game and certainly not finger pointing will serve any of us well. Studied and cautious processes must be instituted and monitored – largess between countries must be the tone. We are on a proverbial “slippery slope” as nation’s contract into jingoism and nationalistic fervor – often used by the politicians to scare their populace into support of plans not necessarily viable. In the mean while, what is needed are REAL employment opportunities and well managed social safety net programs expanded that will stay the tide of misery among the world’s population. Think of it this way – if I pay you decently today, you will buy my stuff tomorrow and then I purchase that which others produce and so on and so on and so on … see – spending it to make it is the REALLY correct theme needed here and now!!!

P.S. In my year end (2013) memoir, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! I will detail all the wonderfully REAL facts of how my business owner Father unionized his own company – the magnificence of that and the gloried result, that I and my children have as a proud legacy. Hint: it worked out quite well for all involved !!!

REALLY Huge Mistake !!!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

BIG MistakeThere is a scene in the 1990 film Pretty Woman where previously dressed shall we say shabby provocative Vivian [played by Julia Roberts], who is now a well coiffed and couture clothed lady, walks into a Rodeo Drive boutique that had a day prior turned her away. Well now – needless to say – here was a case of “payback is a REAL bitch“; she asks if they remember her being there before and then informs the uppity sales woman that they indeed had refused to wait on her, which was a “Big Mistake … HUGE!“.  Yep – love, love, love it. Never been a scenario I usually had to deal with as my life afforded me [literally and otherwise] purview to most high end fetes, establishments, etc. but there have been others that I defended against such malice prejudice and marginalization. Recently on account of those often referenced in my blog posts as The Miscreants™ lies and misrepresentations of myself and my husband, a moment or two presented itself where I had my REAL “team” inform [planning how best to inform still others] those wrongly directed that they had made a REALLY huge mistake – because baby you should all know that I vote, shop, purchase and acquire with my $$$ and I will see any slanderous, defaming harasser in Court. Equally 100% true is that I and my husband REALLY “reward” those who support us and help in defeating the lesser types – those hell bent for whatever misconceived notion or illegal wrong doings against us and other REALLY good people will NEVER ever benefit [not one dime no matter how ill or desperate] from my and my husband’s bounty. I will not forgive nor forget and even though my and my husband’s life plan includes something we have titled our “caring & sharing program“, none of the enemies we write about so frequently will be benefactors of our REAL generosity – not EVER I tell you will there be a hand out or gifting, for these creatures had choices and made the wrong turn by turning against the golden rule of “do unto others as you would have them do unto you“.

Now if you know me personally or are my regular follower/reader, then you are aware of my contractual inability to share all the REAL details here … mostly on account of my year end memoir, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! publisher obligations and likewise, the legal and other advisers warning me to stay relevantly mute on specifics until members of THE REAL Evil Doers Club™ are successfully sued and thwarted. Still I can express to you the pathos of the situation and the grand feeling that comes from intrinsic knowledge concerning my own REAL life narrative, as well as knowing the REAL horrific and less than stellar life stories of my nemesis. True to fact is that old adage – my morphed phraseology presented here: “Those with REALLY glass houses are somehow foolish enough to throw stones“. Why oh why I will never understand but it seems more true than not in that those like my husband and mine sworn enemies – of which he having once been “related to” or knowing since childhood, is in procession of REAL salacious facts about these creatures – dare to lie, slander and attempt with bogus suggestions to defame us. WOW – stupid surely you agree?

Look folks – I am hesitant to delineate too far the analogy within this romantic comedy film but REAL truth be told, it does give voice to an age old situation concerning our human need to unfairly and oft times too quickly rush to judgement – many times to find out that which we thought to be true was REALLY anything but the facts of the matter. Modernity has birth even more avenues of deceit through social media venues and I thank G-d I have the REAL means and most amazing support to fight that battle for myself and others. Yes I must remain vague but trust me – I am the great avenger in this ongoing dialogue. My husband, myself, our REAL family, friends and colleagues have decided and committed ourselves to never letting any slight or lie or such go unchallenged. 100% legal revenge will be my reward + a life REALLY well lived. Additionally, my received $$$ damages from those having caused my pain or denied me my rights will surely help soothe my angst. For now – stay tuned and do not let the bastards get you down. If you like, please  go to “Chat with Teréza” option on my blog wall and tell Mama Teréza who and what has attempted to define you falsely – I shall comfort, commiserate and advise!!!

P.S. My own REAL “Big Mistake … Huge” payback to evil types is my own REAL life narrative that consist of my REALLY amazing husband, children, family, friends & colleagues but I do readily admit my REALLY glamorous lifestyle, my REALLY  magnificent [planning to be in a short time in Architectural Digest & more] homes, my REALLY luxurious past, present & future travel experiences, etc., etc., as well as my REAL upcoming book tour/its movie red carpet moments, et al. are  a kind of REAL “sweet revenge” – in and only in that a life REALLY well lived will cause those delusional bottom dwellers to REALLY be eating their blackened hearts out!!!

Mr. Obama Goes to Jerusalem

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

T in Israel embassy for march Obama blogBarack means “blessing” in Swahili and the similar word in Hebrew, “Baruch” denotes the same  and so with that in mind, I watch as our 44th President travels to my Jewish ancestral homeland of Israel this month with ideas and plans to bring blessings of stability to the region. Oy veh – been there and done that is the tonality and apercu of such efforts. Maybe it will be different this time? I think not as the naivete of the United States and other nations presents an almost deafening lack of REAL awareness as to what reality is in the Middle East.  I love you President Obama – I campaigned and contributed twice, worried about you and consistently championed/worked in support of your plans for America but oh darling, Israel is not your play toy and you nor any other U.S. President gets to dictate that sovereign nation’s policies. Trust me – I REALLY get it – we need to embrace all people of the Middle East but that does not equal tolerance for those hell bent on Israel’s destruction and annihilation. Never again REALLY, REALLY, REALLY does mean never again. So lets chat – discuss – dissect and analysis what this President REALLY needs to understand and consider as he journeys to a place that I  have visited more than a dozen times – Israel and the rest of the very complex Middle East.

Foolish and mislead is anyone who believes the strife in the Middle East is based on religious intolerance … it is not and never has been a G-d issue. In fact, we Jews and Muslims lived amongst one another for centuries … each in constant argumentative postures toward Christianity and yet it is that preeminent faith that exists in those counties attempting to dictate the outcome of Middle East conflicts. Odd don’t you think – considering what REAL history defines as militaristic approaches from outside forces in that region from  Rome, France, Britain and Germany  – followed and currently the United States. The REAL consternation for everyone is real estate and what we all know is the predication that informs it is all about location, location, location – this location is oil rich and posed perfectly between many nemesis at battle for that resource. No need for angst nor demand for purity of intention as far as the whys that bring so many to focus on Israel’s positions in relationship to its many hostile neighbors – modernity demands no pause for analysis of true or underlying motivation in this matter. The only REALLY important subtext is survival and how Israel as a prosperous, productive and enlightened world stage contributing nation will stay viable. Do we allow [as Diaspora Jews] the delusion of security in our countries of birth or do we face the hard and difficult truth that ours is a narrowly accepted – one might even say tolerated – presence throughout the world? Despite my people being high income earners, successful in academics, scientific and artistic areanas, business and government/politics, Jews are still the “other” and I REALLY believe that without Israel, we would be subjugated to much worse. So it is with this serious concern in mind that I implore my fellow Jews and all people of good conscious to REALLY be involved – in a honest and forthright review of the whole truth of how Israel must be treated and addressed concerning its difficult situation.

I am a proud American Jewish Zionist … a liberal democrat politically and am proud to acknowledge the genealogical fact of my maternal Albanian Muslim heritage. Quite a package – don’t you agree?  My heart is gladdened that President Obama has agreed to visit [on this 2013 trip to the Holy Land] the grave of Herzl – our founding Zionist. Why should this bother the world or even our enemies? I answer on account of erroneous and prejudicial perpetrated myths of what Zionism stands for – is the knee jerk reaction and disgusting suggestion that it represents apartheid not based in antisemitism? I say it is totally and completely a matter of hatred toward we Jews and Israel that causes so many ignorant persons to see Zionist attitude any differently than America patriotism, French chauvinism, et al.. Are there racist Zionist – indeed but there are racist everything in this world. Still no one complains when any nation other than Israel demands the right to protect itself, thrive and exist without constant barrage from its sworn enemies. Surely we Jews nor Israelis must adhere to a route toward perfection – we are flawed, as are all people,  but we are G-d’s chosen … not a braggart statement but instead of a REAL plead that the rest of humanity acknowledge our gloried history and all that we have and continue to contribute.

Cleverly I can quip that Israel no more has to divide Jerusalem nor not have its national capital there, then the Unites States need give back D.C. to the Native Americans; likewise neither would anyone tolerate my suggestion that California’s lower parts be ceded to Mexico – same with other of the lower West Coast States. Equally ridiculous would be for me to suggest that fine northern U.S. neighbor of Canada need not have a territorial divided border with checkpoints between us and them. Believe me if Mexico or Canada were shooting rockets into the U.S.A. we would invade immediately – so why does not Israel have the same rights to self determination and protection? I think we all know the answers – not singular but obvious … it is the Jewish State and there is oil in there them hills [Arab territory that is]. Let me tell you plain and clear – I have heard it with my own ears when I was in Geneva at a brunch (in the 1990’s) with Saudi royals types – the dirty little secret is not any of the Arab states [not the Saudis, not Jordan, not Egypt – who by the way are ALL in one or another way, friendly with Israel] want the so called Palestinian as residents in their countries – none I tell you and truth be stated it is Jordan that is the REAL homeland of that group of individuals. From the founding of modern day Israel in 1948, all people – of all faiths have been welcomed to live there, if willing to be peaceful residents.  The religious and civil liberties of Jews, Muslims and Christians have had equal protection under Israel jurisprudence. Our Knesset, unlike any other government body in the world, allows elected officials from a population determined to take over Israel – yes my readers, the Israeli government has Arab Knesset members [since 1949]. Tell me – is that a nation not inclusive? Hmm … seems there is an obvious answer of apparently not at all – Israel wants and has demonstrated in many forums its willingness to live peacefully with its neighbors, within and outside its legal borders. Why then, all the faux angst about my ancestral homeland – think about it and get back to me. I will be waiting while admiring the greatness of Israel … our many, many, many technological developments, medical breakthroughs, glorious arts and culture. Come visit – you will REALLY love the land that G-d choose for we Jews!!!

P.S. In my end 2013 memoir, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Woman Life! I will share all my REAL Middle East travel experiences, as well as my REALLY unique genealogical background. for now – Shalom my darlings!!!

Note: Please allow me to acknowledge and give my affectionate gratitude to ALL the many Christian and other organizations that defend, protect and REALLY love Israel – and ALL its inhabitants. As it is written, G-d blesses those that do so – Amen!

Birthing History!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

558089_10151353718497252_1906140144_n

I was planning to begin this blog post by listing and detailing the current horrors being perpetrated against females throughout the world … acid in the face for perceived sexual promiscuity, bullet in the brain for going to school, vagina probed before being allowed to terminate a life threatening pregnancy, a 2012 U.S. political candidate suggesting rape not REAL if one gets pregnant during that act, etc., etc., etc.. My goal was to shock you my dear readers and then highlight why all REALLY caring people should care that this is National Women’s History Month in U.S.A. and that last week we celebrated International Women’s Day.  Here I sit in my home study – while my family is peacefully sleeping – accompanied by my usual companion, the BBC radio overnight broadcast on my beloved NPR. If you know me personally or follow/read my blog regularly, then you surely are aware that my life (to say the least) is one of REAL serendipitous delight and angst … by that I mean that so often the oddity of that which occurs or presents itself in my daily life is uniquely timely. And so it is in these early morning hours as I sit at my desk composing this post that the fine British voice announces that the next story will be on a sensitive topic concerning the nearly 30, 000 yearly female genitalia mutilation that are being performed in England amongst certain demographics of its immigrant population. No concentration possible now – not as I listen to details that I have read about before but remain still shocked and disgusted by on hearing how even infant females are being mutilated in the name of religious and cultural mores and perceived familial rights. Of course, the report ends and BBC moves onto politics and the world weather report. Hmm … REAL question is – how exactly do I have my thoughts move on now? You all know that I will find a way no matter how mournful I am now feeling because oh baby, I have lots to say on REAL feminism and REAL equality.

Many of my previous posts reference that both my parents were feminist … my Mother, Mary Rose L. Solomon born in 1914 being a early ERA supporter, NOW member and devotee of Ms. Magazine. My husband Chester M. Eliasz-Solomon legally taking my family last name and having our children do the same – more REAL testimony as to my pro-woman existence. Another REAL truth is that my erudite husband writes and comments almost as frequently as I do about the current attacks on women – the world situation and here in America where the extremist Tea Party types and GOP continually vote against important issues concerning women – like the recent controversy on Violence Against Women Act that they fought to sideline. So yes I am REALLY a lucky born, bred and living well the life of a REAL feminist – I am CEO, CFO and more of all things concerning my and my husband’s ventures. Fond of saying we are one another’s saving heroes and recipient heavy lifters in times of trouble – my husband rescues me and I him equally. Both of us are deeply concerned about the REAL current and seemingly growing “war on women“.  Why the push back now? Surely most modern men and women embrace REAL equality of the sexes and so the issue remains as to exactly what is causing so many to want to ignore the REAL increasing problems of violence, marginalization and lessening status for women in the world today. Economics most probably a part of some determined to take away the gains made during the last half century until today where more and more women are receiving professional degrees, heading Fortune 500 corporations and such – still no REAL grass roots efforts to secure our rights  or enact legislation and force Courts to find in favor of women in litigatory arenas. Now do not get me wrong – us gals are part of the REAL problem. We want it all but not to REALLY do it all … I wrote in another blog post that I do not do the “damsel in distress” routine. While yes I am surrounded by REALLY supportive men – men who without their presence in my life, most things would not be so easily possible. – there is to be stated and considered the caveat that I am equal in readiness to complete all required tasks and that my friends is REAL liberation.

I love all things jurisprudence … I took to studying law like the proverbial “fish takes to water“. I adore that the Supreme Court of the United States of America [SCOTUS] has three amazing current female members. Still why is it that the Equal Rights Amendment [ERA] I referenced at the beginning of this post  by mentioning that my own Mother who died in 1987 was supporting for years still has not passed into law – why is the journal our dear brilliant Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg assisted in founding, The Women’s Rights Law Reporter, still battling for that to occur? Well you are saying …blah, blah, blah – no my darling readers – no excuses any longer acceptable – no complex explanations will be tolerated. We need – no make that we must get laws on the national and international legal tomes making women REALLY equable and acts of violence against women REALLY punishable to the full extent of the law. Each of you must come to the full realization that equal rights for women liberate men as well – to that point ladies – no bullshit from us can any longer be tolerated either. You get what you give … can not be free to be you, if men are not also free – in other words, claiming as my husband’s ex-wife did the inability to work [in order to contribute her fair share to her other daughter’s discovered only part time college attendance] after her 20 year older daughter was killed but then partying and traveling only weeks later, is just not kosher. Be REAL or be denied is what we females must make our mantra … fair is fair as the saying goes and so we step up and we demand equability and then we live it for REAL. When a woman uses obfuscation of reality and seeks consideration solely on her status as a woman, she deters those of us striving and willing to do the work needed. Stay at home, work daily or a combination of both – all are valid feminist situations but not having it both ways … do or don’t do ladies but do not get in the way of REAL progress toward protective equal status for women. So my dear ladies  – excuses and justifications just will not cut it any longer – we need to move on, move up and rule all the days of our lives. While pushing forward remember that during the 2012 U.S. election cycle there was a rather popular poster that had these words: “Women brought all politicians into the world and we can vote them out of office too!”.  Yes indeed, we gals birth the world, make history and so we can make it REALLY equal once and for all time … here, there and everywhere REAL women and the men who REALLY love us must unite to make our place in this world safe, secure and REALLY ours!!!

P.S. In my finally soon published & long anticipated tell all memoir, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! many REAL details of my feminist causes will be included. For now I ask that you to join me, Meryl Streep, Hillary Clinton and others to support and finance the building of Washington D.C. Women’s National History Museum – which I am proud to say, as of today, I am listed as a participating & contributing member – my first donation was made in honor of my late feminist Mother, Mary Rose Solomon, with my love & gratitude!!!

Note: May I recommend reading the new book by Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg, Lean Inyou can thank me later!
