Supermarket Magazine Analysis — Food For Thought !

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

food_for_thoughtI have a firm and absolute rule about the magazines in check out lines at Supermarkets – that is no one who shops for me [not family, friend or employee person] can relay tabloid information to me or in my company that was culled from a shopping excursion.  I do not read nor am I ever tempted by the salacious cheap offerings that one is forced to stare at while waiting to pay for purchases. Now I have a valid analysis of what type of clientele a certain or other market caters to according to check out material and of course, it is simple business structure that denotes such choices … you know how it goes – you stock what will sell. Still, I find it REALLY interesting that the food stuff, other products and magazines line up so nicely to express who shops where.

It is true – I admit it – there are areas of life where one could say I am a snob. By which I mean demanding of certain standards and quality. Nothing wrong with this in my opinion as it takes only an understanding and appreciation of things to gain such sensibilities. Obviously, funds are needed to acquire many of the things that are best made but here too a sense of REAL value must prevail. One of the struggling issues of our times – something our amazing First Lady Michelle Obama has addressed in her Let’s Move initiative – is that  poorer communities have no REAL access to organic and fresh food;  fast food being cheaper and more readily available to fill a family’s caloric requirements than fresh produce and healthy protein items has left our society overweight and in poor health.

Seems simple and apparent to me through the evidence that our society is being further segregated through the Supermarket offerings of food, other products and yes magazine offerings at the checkout. Without a doubt the well heeled among us always had opportunities for finer dining experiences and such – the difference is others could still eat healthy and with a little effort read that which their wealthier and more educated brethren were privy to on a daily basis. I love capitalism but the the base profit margin standard is enforcing a no holding back attitude as to what and where offerings of products and information are made available … want to be offended, well may I suggest that some corporate office type is even as you read this discussing how “those people” will only buy such  and such, so why bother stocking the better of what we make or sell in their neighborhood. Now a truism is REAL that some self motivation to read better material, eat healthier food and such is at play here – however, not everyone has the impetus or where for all to step away from the easy into the more beneficial options. Is not the goal of a great nation like America to lift the masses through equality – does not this include informing and allowing purview to greater things? Whose responsibility is creating such a Utopia? I think the answer is elected officials in part and also the companies – including and maybe especially news outlets – to prod, instruct, inspire and direct ALL toward betterment.

All right now – back to the magazines. In the better markets, like my beloved Whole Foods and other like minded stores there are Bon Appetit, Architectural Digest, Yoga this and that, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Fortune, Forbes and a plethora of local upscale ___ Today – depending on the best close by neighborhoods. Why even the better newspapers are frequently sold – my favorite New York Times and Wall Street Journal for instance. Conversely at the less quality oriented markets, one finds tabloids galore – The Sun, The Enquirer, Star and occasionally People or US. Now you tell me – is this not simple Finance 101 in that they sell what will sell to who they think buys in their place of business … again I say nothing wrong with that, except the resulting delineation and further class alienation among our citizenry. My very well read and erudite parents often bemoaned this scenario – they explained that at one time the cab driver and the doctor or lawyer in a town read pretty much the same newspaper, heard on radio or saw on television almost the exact same reports and sure the better educated and motivated family – like my own – made it a must to read and hear/view beyond the standard venues. Yet all were given opportunity to know the same REAL facts and as such, their children too. Sadly, not the current societal norm – we are divided into not only the income haves and have-nots but the nutritional and intellectual advantaged and disadvantaged. Troublesome and dangerous I tell you – this has and will further lead to eventual irreparable divisions in this country and throughout the world. The one bright light – although it too seems to be more and more divided – is social media. My prayer and REAL hope is that Facebook and Twitter, et al. will force a communal sharing of the better for ALL!

P.S. In my year (2013) end memoir, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! I will share the REAL plan that my husband and I are working on to purchase his beloved paternal grandmother, Walerya’s, Michigan farm and turn it into a cooperative community food center and agricultural/nutrition teaching venue for inner city Detroit and other local youths and their families … this will be one part of our soon to be established Eliasz-Solomon Family Foundation.

A Sporting Woman!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

Sporting woman blog post “But your Jewish!” said my dear, devoted and always helpful Italian-American housekeeper after greeting me as I returned from my fly-fishing weekend a few months after my first husband, David Colin passed away Spring 2001. Certainly nowhere near being antisemitic, I knew that Anita, like many thought it odd that I golf, play tennis, sail, and fly-fish – among other sports activities. Why is this odd? Well sadly and definitely erroneous are the preconceived notion that we well coiffed Jewish ladies do not engage in such strenuous activities. At least that is what I have gathered over the years, as others react more or less the same to my multiple physical athletic pursuits. Truth be told many – no make that most of my ilk do indeed go out for many exercise and physical type pursuits – school team sports only the beginning for my and others life long regiments. There are the wonderful example of Israeli women  – the beautiful, strong and athletic Sabras – serving their beloved nation in armed service obligations. So the question goes begging – why not fly-fish, sail, golf, play tennis, hike, swim, ride horses, etc., etc., etc.??? The answer is of course there is no REAL reason and damn it – I have and still do it all … maybe not always well nor at once but still with REAL heart, determination and joy!

I am a lessons – school for all things type of athlete. Whether in primary, high school, college or private – classes and lessons were an important part of my athletic tutorial. I believe in training and guidance from experts. Blessed to have parents who taught me being the best was not as nearly important as the participation in both team and individual sports activities. My very wise Mother was fond of explaining that maybe the Olympics nor a professional sports career was in my future but the joy of doing and the life long physical benefits were in my reach. So it went … family fishing – which by the way included my dear Father having a custom made child size rod placed in my 5 year old hand; swimming and such. School team sports a must and then the endless lessons began. No surprise that there were the little girl and onward dance lessons, gymnastics, swimming classes and bikes, bikes, bikes – followed by tennis, horse back riding that followed in my teen years. I began serious running and jogging at around 19 years old and to this day can not ever imagine giving that activity up – seeing myself as that 8o year old [G-d willing] taking 8 or 10 hours to finish a half marathon perhaps. Then in college I decided to take up golf – even took classes at my undergraduate Alma Mater, Temple University. Proud to say I reached intermediate levels in both tennis and golf within a few years of beginning those activities but alas, realized even though wanting and still participating  no desire to reach higher levels in either were in my plans. Once married in my twenties – I joined my sail boat owning first husband in that awe inspiring activity; yes I am certified to sail but I tell all who venture off shore with me to be sure others on our boat more readily able than I could ever hope to be. I have worked out at gyms – including well equipped home set ups for over 35 years [lifted weights, have done aerobics and machines of all sorts]; I do daily yoga and even pregnant do no less than a five day multiple disciplined/combined weekly routine – in past and now soon again with a personal trainer.  So you see – there was and is a very REAL part of my life that holds as important the sporting life and no matter little done or obsessively involved, I will and insist my children always include the glory and benefit of sports, exercise and the physical life.

Now there is another non standard chick part of my “sporting life” – that is I REALLY love football, baseball, basketball and soccer. Even Lacrosse is on my list of well viewed possibilities. I will watch and attend both as many as possible college and professional venues. All Olympics are on my MUST absolutely watch, read and discuss “to do” life list. I was at a few Olympics games and will go again. Not even liking television has never stop me from rearranging my very hectic schedule to watch those world iconic events. Odd I think not – I love sports and I am not to be denied on account of my gender. The history of women in sports and athletics is legendary. It is offensive and quite ignorant for anyone to find it REALLY unique that a woman like me – any woman – is rare to love the physical and competitive life that sports provides. Little known and not discussed enough are the female participators, purveyors and promoters of sports. Surely you have already guessed that I am going to educate you on that history. Here goes:

The Treatsye on Flysshynge with an Angle (1496) within the book of Saint Albans is attributed to Dame Juliana Berners … as such the first known book on the sport of fly-fishing is attributed to a woman. This fascinating woman was many things during her quite interesting life – besides fly fishing, she hunted, was a nun and writer. Mary Queen of Scots has been called “Mother of Golf” – her  reference to a “mashie niblick” in a golf log is well known and oft quoted. This historical fact made more interesting on account of the iconic St. Andrews Golf Club being men only membership and when I visited this amazing sports club in Scotland during the 1990’s I pledged playing there one day … still a hope of mine. For women in America it was 1874 when Mary Owen Outerbridge discovered lawn tennis while vacationing in Bermuda where the English had exported it to along with much else. Surely females joined in when the Kings of France played – beginning with the Court of Louis X – in the 12th century … their “jeu de pume” or game of the palm was a must do for all the privileged class. There are notes to suggest the Henry Tudor – King of England and his ill fated wife Anne Boleyn played tennis both together and separately. But not until 1887 in my beloved hometown and still part time residence of Philadelphia where women were first officially playing in tennis tournaments. It must be noted that currently there are still prejudicial status for women in Sports – for instance the Golf Masters excludes women golfers; just this week the teenage young man, Chinese citizen, Guan ranked well and yet that nation’s girl golf students could not even consider entry. Well now, that is REAL proof that we of the female gender are still being marginalized in the Sports arena to some extent. Happily professional women athletes are coming into their won with endorsements and public notice … hopefully the collegiate possibilities will also increase soon.

I have been so blessed – even in the area of sports. My first amazing and very accomplished father-in-law, The Colonel, was also a senior citizen award winning ranked tennis player. Through him I met the late Arthur Ashe, John McEnroe and other iconic players. Still in my home are his trophies and awarded mementos.  I am proud to say and love visiting the Newport Tennis Hall of Fame, where this dear man is remembered.

There are more amazing REAL life sports loves in my life – more about my many memberships plans, like the  Golf Divas  in my memoir, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life. What I do want to conclude with here is how my second husband who loved bike marathons and hiking as his primary exercise obsession  took to running during our quite short three month courtship in preparation for our marriage – yes indeed, my honey wanted to be able to run with his new bride – sweet I am sure you will agree!!!

Sex Essentials or How I am REALLY Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte AND Samantha!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

SATCJust this past 5 March 2013 – on my 59th birthday, along with other lovely surprises seen here in this photo, I was gifted the entire Sex & the City DVD set. This television series collection arrived in a lovely pink suede cover box and I was thrilled. Never being a steady TV viewer and having no time, inclination nor patience to routinely watch serial shows – I did not see this iconic and groundbreaking series on a regular basis when shown on HBO. I did catch a few segments, saw the movies and certainly read loads about it – always thinking it honest, marvelous and REALLY worthwhile entertainment. Anyway, as a blogger and soon to be published author + plans to be at least part time NYC resident soon – many gals in ,my life thought it about time Teréza came into the S&C club. Besides, I adore Sarah Jessica Parker and believe me when I tell you her and I REALLY have much in common. Those similarities will be fully detailed in my year end (2103) memoir, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! For now, lets just say it is more than we both own multiple pairs of designers shoes.

Anyway, back to the Box Set S&C moi received as a birthday gift … at the end there are bonus discs and one it titled “Sex Essentials“. Well what was I to think – hmm … possibly a tutorial on that great pleasurable life activity, perhaps suggestions on hows and wheres to enjoy such delights or could it just be a synopsis of the multiple #@%* – got you thinking orgasms, right? No – none of those but instead a lovely retrospective on each of the four characters. The tonality was that each of the four ladies while sharing NYC and one another as friends, were distinctive and separate – very individual types. I say not – for me each was 1/4 of a whole. Yes indeed – we REAL women encompass  Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte AND [G-d willing] a hell of a lot of Samantha. If you follow me regularly or definitely if you know me personally, without a doubt you are thinking, “Teréza is going to explain this for sure!”. Your right – her goes ladies and gents who REALLY love us – my take on my four parted REAL self and others who like me want to REALLY have it all!

OK folks – lets begin with Miranda. I too study law …  hoping to finish soon and I can honestly say that I took to the tomes of jurisprudence like the proverbial “fish takes to water“.  Like Miranda I sit at the head of the meeting – in charge and never the lesser on account of my gender. Also similar is that I am not afraid to be successful – not timid nor fearful that my abilities in the board room will lessen my attractiveness in the bedroom. Fortunately for me and her (later in the series) the REALLY right man is my life partner … both my first husband from whom I was widowed in 2001 and my REALLY feminist second hubby [who you must all know by now legally took my last name/has our children do the same] who I married in 2003 never seemed threatened by  – in fact both promoted – my achievements and goals. I must firmly state that I have been particularly blessed and abundantly so with REALLY supportive men all my life. My dear Father, husbands, best and other guy friends, colleagues and advisers – all – each and every one of these men are amazingly supportive and even protective of my ambitions in life. Now don’t get me wrong – there have been a few misogynistic loser type males I have needed to put in their bottom dwelling place. Why surely most of you have by now read my mention of the male parts of THE REAL Evil Doers Club™  hubby and I suing, etc.. Now those are REAL schmucks – trust me about this and one of them is almost miniature in size – I mean height or maybe both his @#%* and height. Oh who knows – just that these are not REAL men – know what I mean?

Now onto dear sweet Charlotte. In fact I too have my REALLY preppy and conservative sides. I ride horses, play tennis in whites, golf, sail, fly fish and here is another big similarity –  my first dear hubby, David Colin was a WASP. Yes, he was so much so that I had my walk in closet in our home having one whole section filled with duck, horses and tasteful plaid attire. My dear husband who I married at the young age of 26 [he was almost 10 years older], converted to Judaism for me. His family embraced me and mine him. Fortunately my REALLY cultured parents and my in-laws. despite ethnic and religious differences, shared quite similar sensibilities – art, theater, travel and such. What else Charlotte and I have in common is my being a bit “prudish” – not within the realm of marriage but unlike the other ladies I and Charlotte never wanted the, shall we say “serial monogamy” life style. No – marriage was my choice … G-d I have been married almost all my adult life. Always say – admit readily that even though I do not think it would have been something I could have enjoyed, there never was the a REAL opportunity for the single gal bar pick up time in my life – never being REALLY single. I do not condemn nor judge badly other ladies who sought that venue … why not be open about wanting sex, if guys do it all the time? For me – neither sex looks REALLY happy bed hopping and so in that way I am very much like Charlotte. Besides she becomes a Jew near the end of the series  – so that too is a shared likeness between us. One more REALLY shocking to some who think they know me is sameness for her and I in that I am very domestic. Even though not always  a necessity – I can cook, bake and all the other homey stuff. I am a great caretaker type – family and friends know I am the one that will not be squeamish in my tasks should they need attention. Proud to say I am quite a maternal woman and I find that most women are too. By the way, even though not on a Martha Stewart level to be sure, I have been known to glitter a poster or two for the children and more REALLY crafty stuff. So there.

We have come to “hot time in the city” Samantha – who apparently she is mine and most of my gal pal’s husband’s favorite S&C lady. Wonder why? No I don’t actually. Now here I suggest what you readers might think counter intuitive for I just told you that I share a bit of “prudishness” with Charlotte. You are wrong my darlings because I am anything but that in my married life. One of the reasons I REALLY love being married is that my one and only and I are each others fantasy mate. Monogamy for me equals completeness and the safety to be all I can be to just one man – my husband. Nothing wrong with being full out Samantha sex obsessed with just the right guy – my husband, Chester M. Eliasz-Solomon is the lover I always dreamed of and he is my only fantasy. Like Samantha my mind drifts to us together when I hear just the right song, smell a certain scent or have a suggestive thought. I like to say that my parents raised a REALLY healthy woman and it is biblical [my old testament that is] intoned that within the sanctity of marriage, passion is to be a blessed by G-d event. Besides why would I deny myself one of the most exciting and earthly pleasures when the ring on my finger says I am entitled to full out love making with my hubby. Yes Samantha and I agree – it is my right to be a REALLY satisfied woman. It is on my terms and it is great to be sexual – after all nature made us that way. Right? Samantha and I are also career oriented  – along with not thinking a man is the answer to all things or the only way to happiness. Again you must be thinking that I state opposite ideals – no, no, no I tell you for if I had not found the REALLY right guys to marry, then a single life would have been an equally happy and fulfilling choice for me. See Samantha and I agree on many things – well just not that multiple partner stuff but multiple other things for sure.

Finally, my writing doppelganger Carrie Bradshaw. Oh my – she is REALLY me and I too married [as she does in the first S&C movie] Mr. Big.  Some similarities are almost too obvious to state – of course that will not stop me. We both write – her a column – me a blog and likewise, each of us got a REAL book deal – make that multiple book deals [there goes that word again]. We both REALLY love and wear REAL designer couture shoes and clothes – and we both REALLY, REALLY, REALLY have great friends. On the friends issue, I wrote a blog titled Goddess Crew™ [26 August 2012]. The reason hubby and I trademarked that phrase is because for years I called my most wonderful, spectacular, loyal girlfriends that and then a few years ago, one of my L.A. advisers suggested we trademark it before my book was published [after all we all knew The Miscreants™ are thievery types – trust me they are being sued, along with for other reasons, copyright infringement]. To me all REALLY good women are goddesses – taking care of others, working tirelessly for family, careers and bread winner task, along with so much more – I REALLY worship these types of women and hence think them goddesses. Like Carrie I think of my close female friends as soul mates – they are my always there people,  who know EVERYTHING and we love, support and guide one another. We defend each other against all enemies – no task of helping each other thought to be too large and always with REAL respect. There is nothing and I mean absolutely nothing that is out of the question for us of the Goddess Crew™ in relationship to staying the course of REAL friendship. Another blessing are the women who have come into my life unexpectedly – through groups, school, professional situations and from meeting through social media sites. That’s right – some of my dearest lady friends were gotten on account of a serendipitous meeting via Facebook and Twitter and such. I REALLY love women friends – just like Carrie – the ladies are my home base and I am thrilled to be theirs. Another blog post I wrote was Why All REAL Women Are Carrie Bradshaw!!! [10 October 2012] and this my dear readers says so much about how all REALLY good women are her. The scene that post references shows Carrie being “fashion road kill” and yes my much beloved and admired NYT columnist Frank Rich is in the audience when our darling falls down on the runway. An Oy Veh moment for sure but Carrie gets right back up and says,”When REAL people fall down, they get back up and [just] keep on walking.“. No better advise was ever given – not by me and not by Carrie Bradshaw!

So to conclude – I am REALLY proud to tell you that I have grown into a finely integrated 4 part woman. Each of us gals can and should be part of  an eclectic, hard to define and multi-faceted combined Miranda, Charlotte, Samantha and Carrie. Be one or be all these types of women but no matter to what extent you embrace their style – be your REAL self, no  matter what the rest of the world attempts to define you as being. You my darling ladies are each REALLY beautifully unique and I for one adore you!!!

P.S. In my year end memoir – my REALLY odd connection to the actress Kim Cattrell, who plays Samantha in the S&C series and movies will be shared. It is a REAL life OMG  situation – for now, it is titillating enough to inform you that she and I REALLY shared a venue – stay tuned for that juicy and interesting tidbit!!!

A REALLY Good Foundation is Not Always About Just Spanx!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

SuccessfulWoman_BricksI REALLY love Spanx … in fact, I wore a predecessor product for years – even though I was never overweight, was always exercised toned and wore REALLY well designed couture clothes [I even have/wore pregnancy Spanx]. But my darling readers,  this post is obviously not actually about slimming undergarments – no indeed it is about REAL life foundation and how you, like myself, can overcome The Miscreants™, THE REAL Evil Doers Club™ and THE REAL Devil’s Daughter™ types [yes I know – you missed my referencing the REALLY dishonest loathsome bottom dwellers – well they are back]. Let me be clear – here is not a limited personal diatribe on those delusional nemesis hubby and I have so successfully thwarted nor is it meant as a singularly topic referenced personal manifesto. Instead I want to explain and inform, as well as inspire other women [and men] on the how and the ways to take what such ridiculous poseurs present to you and turn it around – into REAL solid, amazing accomplishments and glory. REAL solid foundations in life are not made of weak materials but instead tempered and strengthened by stress, supported by mortar strong substance. There is no room for despair in your efforts to defeat those hell bent on your destruction … build it up before they tear it down is my instructive life motto when relating to the destroyer class. Without fail, the opposition to your quest have REALLY weak foundations – you only need “search” a little to discover their REALLY troubled and sullied base. Do not allow chthonic stresses from unresolved perceived and falsely manifested tensions to be an obstacle to building your REALLY wonderful life.

Before going into my rather admittedly self congratulatory tone detailing how I persevered and was triumphant over enemies, lie tellers and  thievish idiots, I must emphasize that while yes, I at times seem to be  singularly blessed with REAL fortitude, I was also the beneficiary of the most spectacular and might I venture at times unprecedented support from many REALLY good and loving people. In many of my other blog posts, I reference my REAL family, friends, colleagues, acquaintanceship and even almost strangers who have aided and guided me through the morass that others attempted to have thwart my journey. The African proverb,it takes a village to raise a child” I often relate as that for me … it REALLY took a village to protect me and have my REAL successes made possible. I am overwhelming grateful to everyone – the absolutely stunning support I received while dealing with The Miscreants™ is almost indescribable – and we all know moi is not usually at a loss for words. Forgive my religiosity but G-d was in the mix my darling readers … my [Jewish] faith and the knowledge that the L-rd would guide me through to the perfect place was paramount both in comfort and plan – for those of you ladies and gents not prone to that idea, then some faith in an intrinsic  power is required to overcome the terror of lesser persons. The Talmud teaches that despair is the ultimate self-indulgence, for does not only G-d define REAL ultimate defeat and to that teaching, I never allow others nor should you, the opportunity to force you be less than your rightfully given self; possibly this ideal of self actualization is exactly why we Jews,  despite the horror of our nemesis attempts to destroy us,  are still vital, successful and REALLY present on the world stage – surely a lesson for all REALLY worthy people. Every brick thrown by my enemies – every insult and threat made was met with fierce counter action and reaction by myself, my husband and  those supporting us.  I, my devoted husband, my REAL family, loyal friends and brilliant colleagues all worked tirelessly to prove REAL  truths and deny the nefarious hate filled envious accomplishments of the loathsome bottom dweller miscreants. When they threatened bogus contact to others with tales they thought salacious, we made that contact first – in other words, we informed with all REAL details those our enemies thought we feared. I want you to understand that it takes REAL courage and fortitude to forge ahead against those hell bent on destroying your life – you must be bold and accept/acknowledge your REAL history [the good and the bad]; by doing so and being blunt with the REAL facts, your opposing evil doer can never win for you are thus the arbiter of your own unique REAL life narrative.

My husband and I never let any slight by our sworn enemies go unchallenged – nothing was left without equal and strong address. The minimally educated members of THE REAL Evil Doers Club™ suggested and posted a remark that my husband and I were Pavlovian reactionaries … dear G-d, a real guffaw moment for my team – it is them and not at all us who were victims of such manipulation; for my husband, myself and our supporters it was merely a REAL concerted determinant pledge that no slight would be left unanswered and in such The Miscreants™ self deluded life fiction was quickly dispelled for all the world to see.  The REAL truth concerning Pavlov type scenarios in reference to my situation was that the loathsome creatures became almost fun to tweak into various actions [although that was not my original intent] … if I posted/wrote in a blog that they seemed friendless – they posted a mention of friends, if I wrote about my REAL travel experiences, they posted their one or two same budget travel pictures over and over again, if I mentioned their minimal formal education, they remarked about their “higher learning” qualifications, etc., etc. – all seriously pathetic on their part, as it was therefore them and never myself nor my husband who became victims of such “classical conditioning” syndrome. Hence it was these jesters that became their own REALLY bad public relations advocate – made themselves seem foolish and REALLY insignificant to others. The lesson here for you is that those posing as decent, accomplished or worthwhile are most times the least of those things – in fact, more often than not these types of pretenders delineate and defeat their actual REAL minimal accomplishments through their self interpreted farce. You all know the type … those pontificating about how they have what “really matters” – actually it is what we all have – family and friends but for the poseurs the REAL fact is that is all they have and even that blessing a faux status accounting, for if REAL then these idiot types would never need to promote that as their proof of stability.

Jurist prudence became our ally – we legally changed our last name [you are by now aware that with great effort and expense my husband took my last name of Solomon], we legally disowned/disinherited loathsome individuals, we worked with many attorneys, law enforcement, investigators, a publicist, etc. to make permanent our winning status. Energy is definitely required – all stones must be upturned when one is facing REAL evil. REAL success is that which is created against all odds – my heartfelt advise is to fight with dignity and consternation against each and every attempted attack on your well being. Do not coward in the face of those determined to hurt you by their own defeatist attitude … the jealously that promotes those who want you brought down is akin to stealing in that they will lie, cheat and work toward making their own insignificance obliterated by taking your grandeur away. If a evil doer thinks they can insult or shame you – beat them to that task – announce your REAL self in all its complexity and rest assure the nemesis will fear and retreat as their own history is most assuredly a sullied narrative of which they REALLY fear exposure. It never fails – those throwing stones, are the ones living in the most fragile of glass houses. When The Miscreants™ referenced things they thought were shameful to me – I wrote about those REAL facts, when they lied – I exposed them, when they threatened – myself and my husband contacted authorities, etc.. I have mentioned more than once that REAL lawsuits are being organized and even possible civil criminal charges being pursued against these horrible people – this was never necessary for if only they had melted into their marginal existence, no attempt from our more loftier place to deal with them would have ever been made … you see then, that evil brings REAL retribution and for myself and my husband that means using every legal means available to protect ourselves and our REAL family. The very issues THE REAL Evil Doers Club™ thought would undo us, actually caused others to rally to our side and promote our success … odd how tables turn when REAL goodness abides ones life as it has mine. Since childhood, many have titled me a sort of “lemonade gal” – you know I turn lemons into REALLY sweet nectar. Well my darling readers – never more than now in light of attempted wrong doing by the loser miscreants – they made me more popular and more accepted than ever before [not to mention my book publisher REALLY loving the controversy].

So my friends – in conclusion and as the photo here states … my REALLY educated directive is as follows: take every damn brick thrown at you and go build with dogged determination and willful glee your REALLY strong internal and external homes. Fear not your own REAL truth – know that without fail the enemies life story are always far worse for why else would their REAL unhappiness cause such fervent hatefulness toward you and yours. People who are REALLY worthy of G-d’s love and your time never pose as if  blessed – only those internally aware of their lesser status that fear your being better attempt such [photographic, etc.] false presentations … the old adage about “thou protest too much” holds valid here, as those you battle attempt faux establishment of their life status. You must have REAL allies but also REAL self awareness and the security that you rights are paramount and no other can define you unless allowed. Let the REAL joy that is your G-d given right break through the barriers your nemesis construct to bind you. Trust me that most folks will rally to your cause , as REALLY decent people see evil for what it is – that is when those without G-d’s grace and those without a REAL self determinant existence want to steal your peace and your REAL place in the universe. Now go get em … fight your battles and build your dreams without fear of the brick throwers!!!

P.S. My end 2013 memoir, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! will be full of all the REAL details – nothing left unsaid or obfuscated. Stay tuned – gets more interesting each and every day. Sadly, the slights against my enemies that I profess to you dear readers, mostly go unnoticed by them and their kind because large multiple syllabic words are not of their purview – possibly one should gift them a convenient to use Thesaurus, lol!

Note: Here is yet another proven fact that my life has no degrees of separation … Spanx founder  Sara Blakely’s husband is part owner of NetJet – which hubby & I thought might be a REALLY good fit for our REAL private plane travel/who we had REAL conversations with about a future contract [yes another “poke” at The Miscreants™ who seem, as with so much else, obsessed with the fact that moi has access to private plane transportation – Oy Veh]!

The Tereza Effect™ !!!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

Definitely one of my most OMG blog post to date – read carefully my darling readers/followers because this is REALLY interesting and, as they say, one for the record. You see for some time now – quite flattering in fact – hubby dear and others in my life have suggested that in many good and positive ways I seem to effect people. I like to think and have been told repeatedly that my faith based life – ability to REALLY rally against odds and my successes have led others to do better and persevere. If my life can ameliorate others than my legacy is complete. All good stuff – right? I agree and as I have mentioned in other blog post, along with wanting to tell my REAL life story, this is one reason I even agreed to a memoir, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! being published end 2013. I know you all see it coming – here it is – the dam fool miscreants I so often must reference have taken to attempts at being Tereza like – yep – I have had “Internet ninja” keep track and there are Facebook postings and photos sadly posturing as if these characters had REALLY worth while lives. So like with other issues – my “team” decided we MUST trademark The Tereza Effect™ and so it is as of 24 September 2012 [in U.S., EU & Canada] my husband and I, along with the 29 others, now own  [and yes miscreants – we WILL REALLY vigorously defend] that trademark. As with so much in my life – as so many noted about me – this means I managed to turn lemons into (sweet gourmet) lemonade again. Betting you readers want the details – as is always the case, I will do my best considering ongoing litigation/lawsuit against miscreants and law enforcement investigation restriction plus my book contract obligations. It is quite easy to decorticate the facade of those so full of pretense and obfuscation of their own misdeeds – if each of you were privy to all sent to myself, my husband and advisers – you too could easily analysis and surely agree with that which I detail here.

First, as someone studying law and on account of the constant hanging out with many of my own attorneys, I feel compelled to always fully disclose REAL facts and simply because, unlike the loser miscreants, I have a hold on reality – I will readily admit that these middle of the middle of the very middle folks have ok lives, although nothing I would want to claim as my own. They have jobs – all right, a kid or two might have McDonald’s as their only resume entry but what the hell – they work. Some even have four year college degrees [no Ivy League – a lot of community colleges in fact, but they did actually go to college – at least to some extent], they have what are for people like them probably relatively nice homes – they do budget trips [nothing grand mind you but still gets them out of the born & die same place syndrome for a week or two]. There seems to be a few – very limited – social activities … nothing special nor with any notable attendees and even though none will ever effect society, there are at least some one or two time “charity” efforts, although NEVER anything like the venues my husband and myself attend regularly – the many REAL fund raising and political galas nor any of the REAL political, social and community events myself and my husband participate in routinely. But it sounds a decent enough lifestyle, doesn’t it? Normally I and my husband would say bravo good people – best you can do and that is just fine but trust me when I write that these particular typical Americans are not to be championed. I believe most of you have read my posts that are very specific on these types and yes, unlike them or those you know similar, I back up ALL I write with REAL facts – even going so far as to have my law professors and legal team/friends review much prior to posting.

Yes mine is a REALLY blessed life – certainly, like most and maybe more than some – not without trouble, sorrow or strife. I have written extensively that my Jewish faith, amazing REAL family and friends and my own determination makes me possibly the happiest woman in the world – at least that is how I see myself. But it is a life where hard work and multi tasking is the norm – an eclectic life to be sure that includes scholarly pursuits, politics, REAL travel, charitable efforts, family responsibility, instrument playing, sports, exercise, etc., etc., etc.. Not easy to mimic if one is honest – I live it and yet when seeing this list am exhausted myself;  I am NOT bragging but being 100% truthful that as my parents wished/showed by example – mine is a REALLY busy and very full rich life and therefore a life REALLY well lived. I am complimented when hubby, family, friends and colleagues suggest I am a super woman of some kind … hubby even designed one with a big “T” on head gear as my 1st Facebook timeline photo last month. I do not believe in false modesty – just as offensive as bragging but there are many like myself who attempt to “do it all”. The REAL issue here is that pretense like that which The Miscreants™ [trademarked 27 August 2012] demonstrate is just that – a faux attempt to establish themselves as worthwhile beings. True not everyone can have a REALLY exciting life nor does everyone want the extreme highs – amazing and exciting opportunities I have been blessed with but it is exactly the lesser among us that belie their protest about their portrayed happiness that indeed renders them dangerously delusional. In other words, it is these types so hell bent on mimicking those of us blessed with REALLY worthwhile existences [of varied styles] who are the usurpers and drains on society. Those most self satisfied are those least able to grow – their only means of ego satisfaction is false self aggrandizing or lie filled demeaning of those REALLY happy and achieved.

There is nothing in the world more shameful than establishing one’s self on lies and fables.                                                                     —Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

… sadly The Miscreants™ we deal with and others are guilty and prone toward establishing their worth on fables – no more better example than that which I detailed in a previous blog post concerning my husband’s ex wife of nearly 20 years – this high school graduate [which she admitted as education level in Court under oath] for years claimed both a Bachelor & Master Degree – even going so far as to include that on her daughter’s lied filled college application. Even more egregious, in my opinion, is when these parents allowed their youngster to believe they are so talented as to have a chance for careers in college football or as a REAL writer – while both a minimal possibility, never an only REAL option that should be promoted – indeed this has been the case with our troublesome pests offspring [to say the least, the results have been less than impressive  – by anyone’s definition]. As far as the supposed relationships – much ballyhooed “friendships’ between these individuals, that too  is a joke – for all have said REALLY terrible things about one another … the REAL truth is that both myself and my husband have heard harsh and quite mean gossip [saying another of the women were tramps, the others marriage not good, their was no real faith in the others life, etc.] and even hateful comments [for instance when I called one of these evil people to tell him that another’s daughter had been killed in a June 2010 car accident, he suggested she & her other 2 children should have been also – I know OMG] from each of the now reunited  “family” contacts – as far as the non relative couple, my husband assures me the woman he calls THE REAL Devil’s Daughter™ [yes, trademarked by us 27 August 2012 + THE Devil’s Daughter™] spewed insults about them for many years. So you see all is DEFINITELY not REAL in these miscreant’s life and I have somehow effected them so deeply as to inspire these insincere new-found communal relationships – such power hubby and I have to cause a forging of previous enemies. Now do not misunderstand – I am not being a snob – there are many REALLY good and worthwhile individuals who live simply and give much to this world. I have even suggested to my husband, friends and colleagues that the miscreants we deal with have in their own small minded way been minimally productive [by the way, most in my life think I am being far too generous with that analysis]. The problem is that like far too many THE Evil Doers Club™ [yes again, we trademarked that too, 27 August 2012, along with THE REAL Evil Doers Club™] types are not being genuine and I seem to be the provocation as of late for their angst and activity toward proving worth and value for themselves. Many have joked – especially my erudite husband who knew these troublesome bottom dwellers all his life, that at the very least I can be comforted that I inspire them to dress somewhat better, help the hairdressing industry by having the women actually do something professionally with their hair [except his ex wife who obviously still does what he describes as henna home rinsing], exercise a bit, pretend to read [one liked Wall Street Journal on her Facebook page according to a friend of mine – seriously doubt scrap booking & Bubble Witch game playing addict chick ever read WSJ but whatever – maybe she will see article about moi next year there], actually be proud of their limited travel outside their hometown life, et al. – see I am REALLY making them better people all the way around. Of course also REALLY true – as my husband reminded me concerning my obvious considerable effect on these sad creatures is the idiom attributed to Jonathan Swift, “you can not make a silk purse from a sow’s ear“. The base sadness here is that if  like these miscreant types,  you only have a very few things to be overly boastful of and the need to show off the now and again adventures or minimal achievements, you are NOT REAL nor genuine nor worthy of praise – my life is abundantly exciting – maybe too much at times but all REAL.

Shall we get into even more pathological issues here ? – it is the OMG stuff my friends: After I wrote a few blog posts that admittedly were in small ways directed toward the miscreants but others not at all about them, these idiots decided to begin piece by piece proof of each and every delineated reference they assumed were about them. A bit scary in that they began even using my words – REALLY for instance and even the word blessed, as I so often do – additionally one of the husbands posted a first time compliment to his wife as a weak/bogus mimic of the many my erudite and REALLY in love with me husband does so often. Now I know they say imitation is a compliment but not with these types – it became just very surreal and quite laughable [my friends were hysterical]. Even G-d was not left out of their attempt to be like me … one posted a very anti-Semitic prayer [my Priest friend agreed] in an effort to show, I can only presume, that she did indeed reference such things – only after I suggested these miscreants have no REAL faith. Whenever I wrote concerning lack of something in their little world or an abundance in my own, these sad creatures posted a singular response of sorts … for instance, having mentioned my many nieces, nephews – biologically and assumed through friendships – they struggled to find a “family” picture for their Facebook page. What these types miss is it has to be REAL – natural – regular occurrence as it is in my life for such happenings to be REALLY poignant. Then there was their attempt to show they REALLY did have friends – not exactly true in line or comparable to my own huge, abundant and international friend/acquaintanceship base. They did this it seemed obvious by asking or at least prompting their Facebook groups to like or respond to postings – it was so sadly blatant an effort to be like me with my many Facebook interactions and REAL affectionate received comments. Also are the posting of their limited excursion photos, along with their one or two singular charity/career events … oy veh – such a pathetic effort and so dam transparent that I/we almost felt sorry for them. I even experienced a wee bit of guilt on account of spawning such effort from these bottom dwellers as they struggled to show their activities and pose for me. That guilt quickly and readily dissipated as no one ever asked them nor ever cared about them except to sue and prosecute as law enforcement sees fit for their libel, slander, defamation, harassment, copyright/trademark infringement, voicemail/internet threats and now possible cyber crimes [for either and/or creating/re-posting fake lie filled websites and “hacking”]. One must ask – why bother – mine is such a different and thank G-d more REALLY special life than theirs … tragically my advisers suggest either possible mental health illness, simple mindedness or just the run of the mill loser/envy mentality as the answers. No one can be sure but you readers must surely agree it is weird and very unseemly that individuals we are so much different than – and yes I must say better than in every way – would take their limited energies and resources in jeopardy to challenge myself and my husband. Easy to laugh at these jokers but let me assure you we take the threats they present quite seriously. Why would we not be concerned – three of my dear gal pals – one a psychiatrist and two psychologist think these individuals might very well suffer from or have personality disorder issues or worse … additionally one of these characters son brags [we think DEFINITELY exaggerates or possibly is pretending]  to date Jews – at the very least interesting, as I am Jewish and my husband not [not yet anyway]. Another’s – shall we say – less than impressive vulgar daughter locked her Twitter page after my husband reproached this insignificant young woman for lies to spewed there about us … are you kidding me? a locked twitter page, lol.   One of my L.A. associates told us a miscreant put a reference to Pavlov [which someone of her limited education would not understand is really a reference to classical conditioning]  on her minimally read Facebook page – seriously – who is the responding canine in this tale – surely the miscreants I am sure you agree. See – OMG – right?

So in conclusion – an original is just that – original and thus unique. As the song I include here says, I am the one and only . Not for naught, I am definitely a unique original – as my “team” often expresses – these miscreant types can not ever be Tereza. I take that as a compliment but stress that others are the similarly unique and special but NOT the miscreants – they are common and tribe, troublesome and draining in that they fake life – never REALLY accomplishing much and even negating the small achievements they have managed by busying themselves with attempts to be me or someone else. Hopefully after lawsuits complete and law enforcement decides after investigation as to what charges – if any – are appropriate, these and other like minded types will never darken the REALLY wonderful landscape of my life in the future. To be 100% blunt – I doubt they will ever REALLY go away completely as my hubby believes the book, TV, movie, articles, etc. in the next year or two that show ours to be the REALLY successful and special life will [to paraphrase him] – drive them nearly mad with envy and confusion. Not to worry – we have a REALLY great publicist and amazing attorneys and the sweet internet ninja to thwart them and tame that beast. Stay tune my darling readers – this ride is not over yet!!!

P.S. I do not think they can mimic being an artist’s muse – here you see the original me, as I was painted and sketched by a dear gal pal artist – there are other paintings, photos, poems those equally talented have written about & dedicated to me that I will share in the future. I am humbled by the love, support and compliments that so many honor me with – thank you and know that I am deeply and sincerely grateful for each who rally to my side and lift me to such heights!

Note: The #30 trademark [as of 24 September 2012] I referenced above, that hubby & I now own is POTUS Tara Edwards-Saks™  … she is the main character in my 3 minute fiction entry to NPR [last Sunday, 23 September 2012] – we trademarked the name on account of an adviser suggesting I write a novel or series about this 1st Jewish Female U.S. President, which I am giving serious consideration.

P.S.S. THIS IS A SPECIFICALLY DIRECTED TUTORIAL FOR THE LOSERS IN MICHIGAN, CHICAGO & PENNSYLVANIA WHO THINK THEY ARE CLEVER – AS SOMEONE INFORMED HUBBY & I, THEY [AGAIN] MISUNDERSTAND THE LAW – YOU CAN NOT JUST SAY SOMETHING IS TRADEMARKED IDIOTS – YOU NEED TO FILE APPLICATION & PAY HERE IN U.S., AS WELL AS EU & CANADA – AS WE HAD DONE FOR US – IF YOU WANT IT TO BE REAL. My Own 9/11 Story

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

“The Horror! The Horror!”, proclaims Kurtz in Joseph Conrad’s Heart Of Darkness. Yes, we all thought or spoke those words as watching that day’s events on 11 September 2001. I watched the second tower fall as turning in my private hospital suite bed after breast cancer surgery. A dear relative surgeon had arranged a lovely private extra large room and to have my private nurse be sure cable news was [as he knew I am a news junkie] on for me when I woke that morning – never realizing or imagining my eyes would open to see that horror and hear Bryant Gumbel saying this was probably no accident after all.

After my first wonderful husband, David Colin,  died in Spring 2000, I decided that doing a little – shall we say – sprucing up was in order. Being a life long runner, I felt my knees had become a bit chunky/muscular and that a breast lift might be nice as well. I had grown quite close to a distant relative [very talented] plastic surgeon and so I decided to ask what he thought – yes no problem but this dear man suggested that even though I  already had routine yearly mammograms, another pre-op was required. So off I went – mammogram complete, organizing all in order to have a week or two recovery time where biggest task would be finally reading all those wonderful books on my night table. Being a wee bit compulsive I scurried to and fro paying bills, stocking up on necessities and taking a friend’s idea to arrange staying at the Philadelphia Ritz Carlton while recuperating in order to have REAL [yes I got a miscreant hint in even here, lol] concierge assistance 24/7. Now some shopping needed to be complete – a doctor gal pal explained that I would be needing loose fitting front buttoning tops for easy access after breast lift surgery. While driving in my new 2001 adorable amazing gorgeous custom champagne colored XKR Jaguar convertible – yes, in love with my car – my cell phone rang and seeing relative plastic surgeon number, assumed a quick pre-surgery get together lunch date being offered. “Hello sweetie – are we getting together to break bread before you and I meet in operating room next week?”,  was my greeting. An unusually somber voice responded that yes but he wanted me to come to his office asap – I somehow knew instantly what was going on. I turned that sweet car around, headed across town, took elevator up to the beautiful office I had entered so many times before to be greeted by a teary eyed doctor. No question now – something very bad was happening. Obviously, by now, you readers must realize they had found cancer – fortunately it was in duct situ carcinoma , which is a rather mild form/early detected breast cancer, of one breast and in my 2013 book, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! all that journey and more will be detailed. Suffice it to say that vanity saved my life and love of my surgeon friend made that journey much, much easier. Also, Ritz Carlton recuperation a very pleasant way to get back on one’s feet. Of course, the horrors of the 9/11 terrorism attacks not so easily remedied and that is why unlike many, when asked when my breast cancer surgery was – I answer precisely with day, date and even time – that day of national horror never erased from our collective world memory.

Well I fully recovered – knees, buttocks [yes had that lifted too] and breasts looking better than ever. The two years that followed however, just like our nation after 9/11, presented some serious and for me, unexpected challenges. I, as always, must remain vague here and simply ask for your patience, as my 2013 book will detail fully the entire story – much to be learned by everyone and inspiration as well for those who read my story. I hope and pray that my complicated and triumphant journey will help others overcome and rally to their own great destiny. One of the main reasons my amazing second husband, Chester Michael Eliasz-Solomon agreed I should sign a book deal was how many folks we believe my story will give guidance to and that many will be made better for knowing that like myself, they too can thwart all enemies, fight against those who lie and hate and go on to find true happiness against the odds. My darling hubby has always called my Tereza Triumphant ™ – in fact, among our now owned 28 trademarks/copyrights is that too. So here we are at my next 9/11 saga – meeting the love of my life.

Oh my, so sorry my darling readers and followers but vague again I must be about the exact circumstances of how and where I met my amazing second husband but trust me that as my self titled “team” [lawyers, advisers, publicist, et al.] constantly say, it is definitely a REAL Oh My G-d love story – one surely to go down as great in the annals of timeless romances. What I will share in reference to the historical date this writing is about is that on 9/11 2003 my man proposed [in his Jaguar] with a magnificent diamond ring he designed and a poem he wrote that referenced the tragedy both nationally and personally for me that occurred on 11 September 2001  – his proposal speech included how he hoped that I would agree to make him happier than he ever thought possible by agreeing to marry him on this the same calendar date 2003. YES, YES, YES  I instantly responded seeing my new engagement ring through tears of joy. WOW – what a guy – right? And so it is that each year on 9/11 we two thank G-d that our love has grown and that in remembering those who perished and all the heroes from the tragedy of 9/11, our coming together as man and wife and the children our union has created is a stick in the eye of those devils that wanted to destroy this great nation – for we two and our children represent, as I believe my Jewish people do concerning the Holocaust, G-d’s design that good does REALLY triumph over evil!!!

P.S. My breast cancer experience was made much easier because of my insurance coverage, access personally to REALLY good doctors, funds for private nurses and yes being able to pay for staying at the Ritz Carlton to recuperate. In my blog post Why ACA Is Obama’s FDR Moment!, I discuss and even show my signed by President Obama framed certificate thanking me for my participation in passing that ground breaking health care bill. One of my plans is donate a part of my books proceeds to and continue to work for ALL women to have similar health care options – maybe I can not put you up at the Ritz but I surely, with other determined like minded individuals, get you mammograms and the best possible medical care that you can find. Both my husband and I are devoted feminist – committed to saving women from the draconian current crop of GOP cuts – PLEASE join us in November 2012 and vote out/against those who would deny any woman her rightful health care coverage!!!

Plastic AND Inspiringly Fantastic !!!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

Beauty is an outward gift which  is seldom despised, except by those to whom it has been refused

— Ralph Waldo Emerson

This topic was always on my blog list – meant to be a primer and suggestive piece concerning sometimes necessary and often elective cosmetic treatments and plastic surgery. Along with the procedures done by choice or to correct an injury or birth defect, I had planned to discuss one of my long admired heroes – the pioneering British reconstructive surgeon, Dr. Harold Gilles who worked on WWI soldiers – often allowing these brave men to live a life back in society after horrific mutilating injuries. But for now, the tonality of this post must be more pointed because as my readers and followers surely know by now, the well described miscreants have once again come to the fore by spreading [actually quite humorous according to some of my advisers] lies and misrepresentations in relationship to my appearance. Here again, I am unable to detail as I truly wish I could – still muted by ongoing [Fall] litigation, recent possible civil criminal charges against these misanthropes and the happier reason of my 2013 book: Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! obligations. What I can explain is that one of the NEW lawsuits being filed is on account of their suggestion of my having extensive plastic surgery in order to “hide” – I know – funny isn’t it? I am writing a blog, having two books published soon, being considered for a TV and radio show, preparing for magazine and newspaper interviews plus I am on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, working on/owning over twenty trademarks, copyrights and patents with my brilliant husband – that is some attempt at hiding on my part. A few of my close friends and associates thought I should be flattered as one of these suspected lie spewing creatures once wrote that her friends thought I  could only look like I do at my age on account of having had procedures. The other more recent belly laugh we got was their suggesting that my hair was a wig … as my husband said so astutely – to these women and their husbands, etc. my almost daily professionally coiffed hair does look so good compared to their obvious wash and wear dos, they probably really think I wear a wig. The more serious reason my attorneys are filing further cyber law charges, et. al. in reference to what might seem frivolous, is the miscreants were suggesting the plastic surgery and wig was an attempt to deny something. Again – funny as I am doing everything possible to have a public presence. Go figure …. just when you think there can be no more ignorance possible, they remind us they are there.

Here is my proud admittance to a life where being well cared for was a must do – nutrition, exercise, skin and dental care just a start. Yes, I have had braces twice, caps/veneers, gum shaping, a real deviated septum nose procedure, and later in life breast augmentation, liposuction and a few years ago facial thermage. Some of these were health related – braces, nose operation, other dental work and others beautifying/anti aging maintenance work. Here is where it gets interesting – I will share a small part of a life changing plastic surgery story and of course the rest in my 2013 memoir book.

After nearly twenty one years of marriage to a wonderful loving man [first marriage – I happily remarried in 2003] I was widowed in the spring of 2000. Having cared for my parents a decade earlier and then my husband during his last months of life, I decided to have a dear friend/distant cousin brilliant plastic surgeon “spruce” me up  a bit. Part of the impetus was my being a life long athlete – fanatical runner – which I felt, while in addition to keeping me healthy, had bulked up my legs, etc.. These issues thus directed me in my decision to have a  breast lift and some body sculpting liposuction. All was planned and scheduled. In preparation it was decided that I should have an additional mammography test  … I had my annual around nine months prior but just to be on the safe side my doctor friend thought it a good idea to have another. You can almost guess what happen next. While driving in my magnificent 2001 XKE convertible Jaguar, my cell phone rang – doctor calling. Because we were close buddies, I initially thought it was to have a social chat or plan a social event but instead it was to ask me to meet him at his office stat and so it was that [after many more steps] I was diagnosed with in duct situ carcinoma of one breast. Of course there are many more details and dramatic times to be shared in my book but here is one of the most poignant – I was operated on the morning of 9/11 and woke to see the second tower of  The World Trade Center hit on TV news in the beautiful suite that doctor buddy had arranged for me. I decided to discuss this a bit in this particular post so I can contrast my 9/11 experience to another woman’s 9/11 “beauty” related day. I was moved to include Lauren Manning’s poignant story on account of the far too often referenced miscreants. You see while chatting with a West Coast attorney about how to proceed against these misanthropes, I turned to the far end of my study to  look out the window and my eye caught sight of my book pile [always reading 5 or 6 at a time] – there near the bottom was Lauren Manning’s book, Unmeasured Strength. I knew insistently that for this day and this one more needed legal action my attorney and I were then discussing, this woman was going to be my inspiration. My thought was that how dare anyone think that I would ever allow loathsome insignificant bottom dwelling hateful people to deter me from triumph, when this brave women went through hell to thwart the terrorist of 9/11 in order for her to be beautiful again after nearly having her face and body destroyed in a fire ball at the bottom of the Twin Towers and then she,  like me,  went on to [we are preparing to by year end] have another child via gestational carrier. My friends and family have heard me say many times that I plan to write another book titled with some configuration of vanity saved my life because if not for the decision to have a bit of “work” done, no mammogram would have been on my to do list for at least another six months – possibly meaning my very curable cancer would have spread or morphed into a more life threatening disease. After reading Lauren Manning’s book, I realized that her 9/11 was my breast cancer in that both were circumstances out of our control but neither of us allowed those horrors to deter us from being REALLY beautiful. Not wanting to be too dramatic here – suffice it to say that both the brave Ms. Manning and I are, unlike the enemies each of us face, really beautiful survivors and both of us stronger and more invisible on account of being forced to deal with evil. By the way, I am forwarding a thank you and this blog post to Lauren Manning – with gratitude for reinforcing that women like her and women like myself are obligated to teach the world what it means to be the kind of good woman, with supportive husbands, friends and colleagues who no matter how disgusting our enemy is determined to be nor their effort to be destructive is, overcomes every obstacle and go on to a glorious life.

Now for the fun part – oh baby, I have and will do everything possible to stay healthy and beautiful for as many years as I am cognitive enough to exercise, be vigilant about my nutrition and have all the cosmetic, reconstructive/plastic surgery procedures safely and appropriately required. Why would I not, within reason and educated choices, take full advantage of the ever more perfected anti-aging procedures? In the BBC series The Human Face, the fact of facial recognition and the effect of appearance on every aspect of life is discussed … we present to the world an edifice to define us. Here I must mention that it is true, while outside appearances give first impressions, internal disease and even mean or unhealthy mental attitudes do somehow show on the face and will cause one to appear very unattractive no matter what the facial features are. This BBC analyse shares the facts about psychology, beauty, sexuality and appearance … being attractive has a definite pay off and so it is that I laugh at the misanthropes who, while one of them may at least seem to occasionally use a blow dryer and could pass for mildly attractive [enough hints my dear readers?], deny or denigrate those of us who take care to stay youthful. In the recent 2012 HBO documentary About Face, the so called Super Models of twenty or thirty years ago discuss their journey in the land of extreme and objectified beauty. While driving and listening to my constant companion, NPR, I heard the principles from this documentary and was reminded that my very wise Mother suggested that each of her girls [myself, the daughter and four grand daughters] be conscious of taking good care of our health and appearance … Mother called it good bones and  also told us to be equally on task in learning and growing through education, career, hobbies and interest. As I have written in other blogs, I owe my parents so much for the life style template and realistic explanations of what it takes to have a full and long life that includes happiness and fulfillment. So when the losers attempt to suggest I have or will have or am having “work” done for some nefarious reason …after the belly laugh and calls to attorneys and dear publicist, I walk by a mirror and say, dam right I have and will but only for the best of reasons, which include having my darling husband admire me each and every day.

Hear me loud and clear enemies of mine: I ALWAYS had planned to get more “work” done and now especially after gestating later in life, body sculpting liposuction and the full face lift will be completed as soon as a few “housekeeping” issues are settled [asap]. And so, let me say once again … to whom it may concern/those much too often referenced miscreants, evil doers, misanthropes and envious ugly hater types – you can kiss my gorgeous, couture clothed, toned, well cared for [proud Jewish] ***!!!

P.S. I have already begun to gather information and discuss with medical professional and breast cancer organizations in preparation for another book – after my end 2012 book of essays and end 2013 memoir published – called Vanity Saved My Life. This will be about my breast cancer journey and more importantly include advise and information for women to assure they get check ups and can access cancer care. The plan is for proceeds to go to breast and other female cancer research, as well, as funds for women who might need financial help while struggling with cancer.

The Feminist Fertility Toolbox™

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

Your having a (my) baby – a woman like you [my dear hubby always expressing his gratefulness that is was a woman LIKE ME having his babies] … yes, that is a line from an old Paul Anka song but for those of us who have struggled with fertility issues it is a thank you G-d moment when the OB states that as fact. For myself and my husband, it was a costly, time consuming and an often uncomfortable process  – succeed we did but oh baby it was quite a journey. Ours was not only fraught with the physical, financial issues and consideration of my advance maternal age but we had to deal with lies and slander [lawsuits being filed this Fall] about our situation … of course, the ignorant are always out there – as one of my attorneys asked, don’t they read, watch TV or google? His reference was to the fact that many – not only myself – woman past 50 get pregnant and gestate successfully; some from donor eggs  [was option we considered but we were blessed with my own still being viable] and others via surrogate and/or gestational carrier [our next plan after our twin sons are a  little older – we want to have a gestational carrier for our remaining embryos]. By the way, as link I have included explains – there are quite a few women past 50 who got pregnant naturally. Of course, as I advise my younger women friends – do not look to me as a reason to wait – I got lucky and would have been accepting of other options. The other thing that I luckily had was good insurance and the most amazing support system [husband, colleagues and friends] in the world. I want everyone to have choice and opportunity in the baby arena and so I will inform and entertain as best possible in this blog post.

Now – why did I title this blog post with one of the trademarks my husband and I now own … it is quite simple – both he and I are feminist [he and our children legally took my last name as of January 2012] and we truly believe everyone has the right to determine when and how she or he does or does not have children. Trust me – those who oppose choice concerning pregnancy termination also oppose fertilty/reproductive assisted treatments. You have heard the rhetoric about G-d’s will and not wanting to interfere with the divine plan as the zealots see it to be. As a devout practicing Jew, I see G-d’s divine plan as having made available the marvelous doctors and technology that allowed my husband and I to have the children we always wanted. I tell everyone to take full advantage no matter age to make their dream of having children come true – no method should be left unexplored. Most important – as it was for my husband and I – do NOT let anyone, for any reason deter you from your dream of becoming a parent … no matter what form or route, it is worth it.

Possibilities to consider include not only egg donors, gestational carriers but surrogacy, IVF, IVM and of course, for women without male partners or if  their husband has medical issues, sperm banks. For gay or same sex couples, these same possibilities exist. There are also more and more options for women who face illness/cancer therapies that will render them infertile … Ovarian preservation or egg retrieval/freezing prior to treatments are frequently suggested by physicians for those facing that situation. As I already referenced one of the reasons my husband and I trademarked The Feminist Fertility Toolbox and care so deeply about the right of choice,  is that there are those who believe they can and must decide if any and for whom these advanced medical procedures are made available. In other words, politics and not intercourse or a doctor visit will determine who and how babies are made. Definitely an OMG thing to consider, don’t you think???  When we decided to try again [having miscarried early in our marriage nine years ago] to create the family both of us wanted so desperately, my husband and I laughed at the almost dictatorial suggestions by SOME [not those who really love us] that we might want to reconsider on account of our ages, etc.. My husband wanted children so badly, he became angry in thinking those folks had children but somehow thought they could persuade us not to – of course, there were our dear loving REAL friends and extended family who only worried that after our other miscarriages, more heartbreak would devastate us. Like all that seems happens in our life, these amazing people pledged their support once we made it clear we were moving forward in our quest to have children. Many held my hand, took middle of the night calls, drove with me to doctors appointments, thwarted our frequently mentioned enemies and bought the most beautiful baby gifts in the world to fill the nursery for our twin sons.

In some countries, insurances cover fertility treatments  … here in the U.S., only a few tests and procedures are paid for by insurance. One of our goals is to establish a fund to assist others like ourselves who want to pursue the medical options to get pregnant that are so expensive – hoping to seed this with donations from my books, etc. and from other like minded and generous people who know how much having children can mean. This idea actually came from a Main Line [Philadelphia] couple who have a similar organization that helps those wanting to adopt but do not have the funds to pursue that option. We get back to politics here  … in this great nation there are the anti choice zealots who not only want to eliminate pregnancy termination options [even in cases of incest, rape or threat to Mother’s life], cut most prenatal and childhood programs but also do not support insurance companies covering fertility treatments and some others who think adoption should be limited to certain types of couples [not gay for instance]. The proverbial slippery slope is in front of us concerning having  babies …as with all those other slides toward dictatorial policies, we – people of good sense – must remain vigilant and NEVER allow others to determine how a family is created or by whom!!!

P.S. As in other blog posts, I promise details, photos and such – about EVERYTHING, including our children, – after litigation this Fall and definitely in my 2013 book: Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! Hope to see all my readers [now nearly 4,000] at bookstore signings, in the audience when they interview me on TV shows [need to start watching myself – mostly know what is on TV from reading about it at this point] but for now you can “Chat With Tereza” via email by going to my picture next to blog posts. Stay tuned – this is getting REALLY interesting!!!

Le Petit Trianon And Why Architecture DOES Matter!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

Un endroit tres special … toi seul –  For Queen Marie Antoinette that was Le Petit Trianon and for others no more than a small room or alcove. No matter the style, location or size a special place that one can call their own seems as important to happiness as love. It seems that the French Queen was in that sense very much the same as anyone else in needing and seeking that sort of  joy and security. In that pursuit she embraced and redesigned extensively the Versailles addition that was originally designed as a gift for Louis XV’s maitresse-en-titre, Madame de Pompadour, who died before its completion and so it was subsequently given to her successor, the most famous French mistress, Madame du Barry. It was the  following French King, Louis XVI who gave Le Petit Trianon to his teenage Queen whose legacy has been defined by both truths and misrepresentations. In fact, Le Petit Trianon was criticized by her French peers as being too foreign – often being called “Little Vienna” or “Little Schonbrunn” – a reference to her powerful mother, the only female ruler of the Hapsburg dynasty, Maria Theresia‘s palace – where Marie Antoinette herself was born. As history informs us, Marie Antoinette was both loved and despised during her life – thus finding both a place for celebration and solace in her beloved  Petit Trianon. [By the way, during my visits to France I visited all of Versailles – including Petit Trianon and more … I will detail this and more of my travels, including photos,  in upcoming blog posts and my now REALLY soon book: Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life!].  There are American Castles – places of grandeur designed as testimony to great wealth achieved mostly during America’s Gilded Age – I have visited many, including Newport’s famed The Breakers and Vizcaya in Miami. For myself, it began with my own childhood playroom and later a study that was my singular separate space and then of course as an adult my own homes provided more special areas I considered important – a gym, a garden or private dressing area. My husband and I recently have become able to look forward to being multi residential  – both of us are thrilled and full of wonderful anticipation at the prospect of working with architects and designers to create special unique spaces for each of us and our children. In each life – no matter where in this world – there is a necessitous impetus to create or find that area where comfort,  security and peace can be experienced. The task at hand has been and is ever more to make public and private places that every citizen has access to in order to achieve a balanced life to whatever extent possible.

I often reference all my parents taught and gave me in my blog posts – again, I must acknowledge their teaching that one should take full advantage of public spaces – making an effort to see and experience museums, parks, public libraries and all venues available wherever one lives or visits. I too want my children to make a conscious effort to seek out places of both grandeur and simplicity. For some there is no personal directive toward this lesson but it none the less should be, if not intrinsically known, then taught via public service outreach and/or through education [in schools, etc.]. We must provide public spaces – which serve as social gathering places. Throughout history into current modernity there have been parks, town centers and squares that afforded populations a place to congregate and more – often serving as markets, meeting venues and places of both worship and justice [or lack there of] and  punishment. The suburbs, unlike cities have not provided many gathering public or communal spaces … grant it quite a few are near parks but the very act of needing to drive for access denies the basic intent – that is to dwell freely in a shared area with neighbors or simply to easily seek solitary refuge. Rural areas provide, while not as plentiful as cities, meeting places on account of the basic need to join with others in common spaces – living far apart almost demands a town hall, a fairground or place of worship to gather. Of course, city, suburb or farm/ranch the new town square is social media – while to some extent a place of shared experience or reprieve from others, the internet is not architecture and therefore provides nothing to soothe the soul or attend to our other senses. Of course, I would be remiss if I did not mention that my husband and I take great advantage of the internet in pursuit of homes, vacations, design, etc. – there is without a doubt the most amazing access to all the world’s beauty, art and architecture via the internet. The problem lies in that being the only and singular outlet for some – whether by choice or circumstance. To never walk through a museum, sit in a public park, stroll around a town square or trek through a national preserve is to be denied a human basic experience – the outdoors and the interior places created by joined human effort are equally important venues that are almost a biological imperative to sustain life. We have seen people flock to common spaces for triumph celebrations like national holidays and also to share in tragedies like 9/11 – this need appears to be intrinsic and almost part of our DNA. Vigilance must be maintained to how and why and where architecture can make a difference in all lives.

For some time it has been an accepted fact that hospital design affects a patient’s health – not just the obvious cleanliness and well placed equipment/safety consideration but also the colors, furniture styles and art placement can contribute to or detract from the overall outcome of an individual’s hospital stay. There are also the staff and families and friends visiting that can benefit from the architecture of a medical center. Another important  architecture issue is schools – studies have shown that learning is more easily done in well designed areas and less strife and disruption among students is noted when a school is not only efficiently laid out but is attractive and in tune with all the senses. Teachers are equally affected and have expressed an ability to demonstrate more patience and energy in their dealings with students when the building/their work place is attractive and healthy.  Sadly, public schools are falling victim, like most municipality financed venues, to budget cuts these days – penny wise and dollar foolish for sure as how and where our children learn is paramount to a successful future., Why should only those of us whose children can financially afford private school have a learning atmosphere that promotes achievement? Yes, it is true – as I am so often reminded by skeptics – that in the “old days” many of our most prominent U.S. and world citizens schooled in less than attractive buildings [to say the least]. As my wise Mother was fond of stating – there were no really “good old days” just old days gone by … those much championed and incorrectly remembered halcyon days were also full of segregated and bland places of public education. Granted some students rose above and achieved greatness – most probably [as is often cited in memoirs and biographies] on account of family, clergy or a special teacher or maybe even something uniquely internal gave that person an advantage despite the surroundings where they went to school. Today is different and it is imperative that everything possible be done to architecturally design places of learning that are stimulating, healthy and attractive.

Major cities in the Unites States and other countries are now creating well designed and attractive affordable public and subsidized housing  … major architects are getting involved in the effort to create better and healthy single living spaces for the financial disadvantaged citizenry among us. One plan has produced integrated and various  level income housing communities, while other initiatives have created buildings with the single goal of affordable small but well designed living units … all geared toward a better quality of life. The outcome has demonstrated not only a better result for inhabitants of these well designed  low income units but for the community in general –  legal, medical and sociology experts have studied and agreed that living in a better environment produces individuals more physically and mentally healthy and there is decreased crime and as such less cost/expense to others. Even public transportation throughout the world has been addressed by architects – the stations are now multiple purposed in many places, offering amenities and services, as well as a safer environment. There really is no part of human existence that can not be made better by design and that is why architecture really DOES matter – in many ways and for many reasons!!!

P.S. A previous blog about our Labarador, Princess Java Argus surely expressed how much we consider her family – as such the plan for our new residence is that she & the second Labrador we are planning to add to the Eliasz-Solomon family, Princess Kava Pompeii have their own separate home [not dog house] with full amenities for times when parties or chaos make it uncomfortable or unsafe for pooches to be in main house …so, it goes without saying, we take architecture seriously!!!

Chariots Of Fire, The Olympics And Munich’s Shame!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

Perfection as a goal  in the world of sports can elevate a human being to heights that can only be described as euphoric. In previous posts, I discussed my own parents and my and my husband’s similar insistence that the children in our family, like ourselves, participate in sports [ my dear husband took no chances our twin sons would not love sports – their main nursery was sports themed from the beginning – even the crib mobiles]. I have also mentioned that for my family athletics has never been about making it to the Olympics or being a professional sports star [unless, of course, that was destined to be and desired] but instead it was about  being both physically fit and also about getting to be part of a team effort – in my 2013 book: Heiress Mommy …A Modern Super Woman Life! I will include my own dependence on athletics and sports at some very sad times in my own life. Another important issue is that  too many minimally talented young people are lured and convinced that they are sports super stars, when indeed they are not – leading to an unfulfilled destiny and I feel, unhappy life. In another blog post I wrote about the idea and personal philosophy that mind, body and soul are all intertwined – so it was for the original Olympic participants – where even poetry was part of the training. The reason I am including this in an Olympic themed blog post is that when my family goes to [as I have been so privileged to have done once] or sits down to watch the Olympics it will be with pure joy and for the love of the games with no prejudice or self interest nor fantasy about our own athletic prowess  …except, this year [2012] brings sadness as well – for Munich’s shame is now London’s shame as there will apparently be no moment of silence for those massacred in 1972.

Empatheia and pathos are Greek words for passion and suffering – a perfect and accurate description of each Olympiad’s quest for glory. The ideal sought by these athletes should not ever be marred by politics but tragically the modern day Olympics games have seen far too much of that exact situation. The origins of the modern Olympic games began when  French Citizen Pierre de Coubertin spoke at the Sorbonne in 1894 attempting to convince The International Congress that the Olympic games needed to be restored as a response to the French defeat during the Franco-Prussian War.  So it was that two years later in 1896 the world began the  route toward lighting the torch. Even though wars and world strife have rarely interrupted the Olympics there were cancellation during both WWI and WWII. The glory lies in that  even when that occurred, the shared dreams of the athletes remained resolute and forward thinking to the next Olympic games – bringing financial gains and improved image to its host cities throughout the world. . As one should in private life, athletes involved overcame and redirected themselves toward victory but there is no way to ignore the societal issues that have indeed been part of the Olympic games over the years.

The 1981 British film Chariots Of Fire depicts beautifully the story of the 1924 Olympic games where a British Jew ran and won as a way to overcome prejudice and antisemitism. The other main character is based on a devout Scottish Christian who runs for the glory of G-d. These two men demonstrate a respect and friendship based on their shared determination as fellow Olympiads – should not that be the template of ALL sports? Hitler used the 1936 Olympics to presente a false narrative concerning his monstrous world domination plans and his design to annihilate the Jews. The most on site tragic Olympic event was undoubtedly the 1972 massacre in Munich of the Israeli athletes – sadly, at this year’s 2012 London Summer games no moment of silence will occur for these slain Jewish sportsman. One must ask if global antisemitism and misplace  hatred of Israel is the reason – for why then was the  tragic death of a Georgian luge athlete at the last Winter Olympics granted a  moment of silence and recognition. Is the group of Olympic officials who are responsible for such decisions really hateful of we Jews and Israel or are they allowing their decision to be determined by other nations wanting Israel destroyed? No Matter the real reason – ALL athletes and ALL who support the Olympics should be concerned – politicizing on account of nationality or religion is definitely a slippery slope away from the Olympic glory.

We Diaspora Jews and Israelis are nothing if not a determined and resilient and optimistic group of people – we will NEVER be deterred nor denied. As such, our presence and success at this 2012 Summer Olympics and all to come will be felt. The triumphs of my people has served as an example to ALL the world – athlete and others – that anything, no matter the strength of one’s enemy, can be overcome and victory achieved!!!

P.S.  I hope everyone will join my family in supporting our U.S. First Lady, Michelle Obama in promoting a national dialogue and effort on fitness and nutrition …our wonderful FLOTUS will be leading an Olympic activity called “Lets Move!” for our brave military service men and women’s children this week at our London U.S. Embassy!
