Its All About the Constitution [Stupid]!!!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

lady_justiceWe all remember – at least those of us old enough and interested in such matters – when our dear President Clinton told this nation in 1992 that it is all about the economy [stupid] and I agree – I often say if one can not feed their family, pay the rent and such, than political nuances are not going to be of any concern to them. Equally important to this great nation and even relevant to most things economic is our United States Constitution. Not just for those of us studying law or addicted to things like the latest Supreme Court decision [look I willingly admit to reading  in entirety the SCOTUS  legal decisions for fun – I know  – you are thinking how boring!!!]. Do not fool yourself my friends – this nation is only viable as long as it adheres to laws and not the dictates of each citizen’s personal passions or prejudices. Yes, as a Jew, I am fully aware of other nations that morphed their jurisprudence into an evil bastardized form to prosecute “legally” my people … the Nuremberg Race Laws are a horrific example of exactly how a legal system was perverted to do great harm. Vigilance must be constant – legal formats tweaked and changed but this does not equal allowing individual prerogatives to rule the courts of our great land. No, no, no – never should we be victims of a few self interest ideals in decisions of legal matters or rights of our citizens. The conversation today needs – make that requires – a committed and well informed involvement by each of us to assure all of us remain REALLY protected under the law. Here again, is why laws are an economic issue – one needs to be concerned that the old joke “the best justice money can buy” is not a U.S.A. reality. Lady Justice may be blindfolded but she has never been without insight. REAL justice must not be a mere academic treatise but a living and well tended to discipline. Let us examine the current present day concerns that face our legislatures and judges – you must not turn away for all of us are affected by the ruling laws in this country. I believe the extremist from all political sides are a REAL threat to modern judiciary – the imperative exist for attentive participation in relationship to all things legal. Do not fret, I will lead you down the path toward your rightful voice on such matters or at least peek your interest [I hope and pray].

Just this week Justices Sotomayer and Breyer rebuked a lawyer for racially charged “pernicious” language in a case concerning a Texas man’s drug possession conviction – this stands out specifically in relationship to my topic in that the Court declined to hear the case and yet found it necessary and warranted to admonish the prosecutor for allowing prejudicial evidence as a determinant factor. Paramount to our fair and balanced judiciary is to establish that while one may be guilty of a crime, they are not to be found guilty on account of unconstitutional factors. Justice Sotomayer was adamant that “substituting racial stereotypes for [REAL] evidence” was not to be tolerated in our Courts. Any stereotypes or the predetermined judgments about an accused individual actually nullifies the REAL power of our laws … one is always left wondering if someone is REALLY guilty or in fact, found to be on circumstantial evidence when bias exist. Him or her today could very well mean you or me tomorrow if only our fellow citizens or lawmakers preconceived notions of one or another group among us is to facilitate prosecutorial  efforts. Here we are at that proverbial “slippery slope” scenario – a steep and often quick slide down to the horror chamber of unequal and REALLY unfair court room dictates. What is called enforcement discretion – that which allows law enforcement and prosecutors to selectively decide on what is or not to be proceeded against is in need of constant oversight. We all have prejudices, we all have preconceived ideas and notions about others but what we all do not have is the ability to enforce and proceed legally against other citizens – hence the absolutely necessitous attitude toward those with such life altering responsibilities. Most do their work with “due diligence” but when a few become a threat to the very structure of our constitutionally established laws, all effort must be taken to seize the reigns in order to pull back the attempts that might very well destroy our nation’s legal system.

My heart and mind were gladdened by the amicus brief of 75 prominent GOP members – including President George W. Bush – filed this week to the Supreme Court in support of the constitutionality to allow gay Americans to have the equal right to marry under our civil laws. I and those like minded will defend all religions to do as their conscious see fit in this realm – no one will be forced to marry anyone in their faith but all must be allowed civil matrimonial equality. As the highest court in this land will review that legal matter during this year’s session, the Republicans who signed that legal brief are stating that despite rather conservative ideas about matters important to our country, they feel that the constitution is not the place to decide the right or wrong of that which all citizens are legally entitled. What is confusing to some is why moral issues like civil rights are the purview of courts and legislation but not who can or cannot be allowed to marry. It is really quite simple – the former is a REAL delineation from our Founders desire to have all  equal under the law and the latter exactly the opposite.

I see our United States Constitution as a sort of secular bible – our jointly held and guiding life in America legal manual. I am the benefactor of my wise Father who paraphrased often Blackstone’s formulation stating that “better ten guilty men go free, then one innocent fellow be punished or imprisoned“. This mandate broadens to civil areas as well criminal under our United States legal system and we must be attentive guardians in perpetuity or lose our way.  To allow personal prejudices to get in between our national community and those laws that govern us all would be not only destructive but a reactionary nightmare. Neither liberalism nor conservative constructs should be our ultimate defining national template – we absolutely must adhere to the REAL ideals of our Founders – that is to hold fast to the promise of REAL and complete equality. No matter your status, your background or your self perceived place in the American mosaic – you and I are the REAL gatekeepers of that most magnificent of human documents, The United States Of America Constitution!!!

Happy me = 2013!!!
P.S. Someone asked me what I would do if after finishing law school, etc. I somehow managed to be nominated & confirmed to sit on the Supreme Court … well I first suggested I could never get past the confirmation hearings, as I would never tolerate being so disrespected. However, should I make it to SCOTUS – my first task I explained would be to go to a REALLY good tailor. My attorney friend obviously was confused – why a tailor he wanted to know. I explained to have my robe shorten, tightened & neck lowered … still confusing my legal buddy, I further explained because I want to be known as the “babe justice“. Why I was asked, as I am such a confirmed feminist & wouldn’t that be antithetical to such a life philosophy. Not at all I insisted because you use what you have – all of it I told my pal – to get REAL justice for ALL. Well there will REALLY be more about that and other REAL life facts in my memoir, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life!

NO G-d in Tax Code and NO Exemption from Laws

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

politics-religionWe are on the proverbial “slippery slope” my friends concerning religious organization demanding exemption from the iconic Obama Health Care Reform Act [ACA] . Trust me that this will not work out well for faith based efforts in the end … no nation can exist or tolerate the dictates of a religious body – history has proven as much. The intermingling of religion and government will most surely hurt religion more drastically than visa verse. I, as a practicing Jew, want ALL faiths protected and to do that in a non homogeneous nation like the United States must mean no religious oversights to our laws. Only an adherence to civil  programs without the individual particulars of any one religious doctrine will guarantee a permanent and REAL safeguard for faith based institutions in our great country. It is without question America’s unprecedented heterogeneity in nationality, ethnicity, race and religion that is our REAL strength and glory – no one group must ever be allowed to determine or deny the whole of our diverse populace under the guise of religious freedom.

The tax exemption 501(c)(3) for any/all churches and religious organizations is a farce. By now, surely my readers have come to realize that my husband and I were forced to tolerate a bogus almost “ponzi schemed” group that claimed such status while dealing with his ex-wife; this woman claimed fake college degrees via this spiritual organization and even that she was becoming a minister through them and hence should not be mandated to contribute to her children financial [considering her supposed future ministerial low income work]. Does anyone seriously believe or accept that such a quasi religious organization should be allowed to claim tax exemption status? The question of what is and is not a REAL religion means that no faith should be allowed to opt out of civil taxes, for does not the faux faith based group give pause to those of REAL stature. In other words, who exactly decides the legitimacy of a particular religion? I say the members and as I want no control over others religions or they mine, we need to end this joint acceptance of faith get out of paying taxes scenario or face the eventual demonetization of one group by others. To REALLY preserve faith in America, we must ban religion from all government decisions. No I am NOT a socialist and most certainly not an atheist but only a realist – as a Jew, I am sadly only too aware of governments deciding which, if any faith rules the nation. To prevent yours or mine from being denied equal national status, all religions must sensibly agree to stop attempting legislation activity via the pulpit.

The very idea that the Catholic Church or Orthodox Jewish groups or any other group is attempting to opt out of paying or even allowing women access to coverage for birth control under the health care reform act is maddening – dangerous and unconstitutional. Law school 101 informs us in the Establishment Clause that government shall not promote any one religion in the United States – one must therefore ask, how is allowing opting out by a religion from a federal stature not endorsing that faith. Passive endorsement is still a form of promotion … by making an exception for any religious group, we the people of the United States of America are indeed making a statement that we agree with that faith’s promoted philosophies. My personal ideal is to REALLY protect all religions – the established ones and yes, even the fringe new age types – for is not my brother and sister’s right as precious as my own? Obviously, here in the United States the answer is undeniably yes. However, that does not mean I should be forced to finance that which I do not believe in – neither in the affirmative nor negative aspects. Nothing in the Obama administration health care laws/proposal forces any religion to actively or placidly support that to which their faith objects … no, no, no – the only REAL requirement is to offer any employee the personal option and choice for a particular medical coverage. There is no denying that women are the target of these demand exemptions by the church and others – no access to birth control coverage equals almost a form of female bondage and that can not be allowed in this country.

So my solution – for what it is worth – is all faiths pay taxes on property, income, etc.. If that happens then REAL consideration for private decisions concerning what an employee is offered can be logically discussed – until then, if my tax dollars are supporting your organization, my voted into office legislation decisions rule the day. Of course, as it stands now – religions still have tax exemptions and in that reality, we must insist all is equal as far as federal laws concerning health care coverage. No faith based organization is being forced to accept that which they find offensive but only and singularly to allow its employees equal rights under the laws – the same laws that govern each religion’s very existence here in this REALLY free nation!!!

P.S. In my end 2013 memoir, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! I will REALLY detail why all things “under the law” matter so much to me!!

My Favorite Abrahams; What REAL Honesty Looks Like

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

LincolnThoughtfulBeing REALLY honest … lets say and agree that means not telling untruths, not cheating, stealing nor [as the Bible states clearly] never being slanderous or defaming. Jurist Prudence defines “shedding a false light” as dishonestly misrepresenting as if fact issues concerning another person and hence subject for litigatory initiations. Yes my dear readers – all relevant to my/my husband’s ongoing issues with The Miscreants™. Truly astonishing is the fact that these individuals, like so many I am sure each of you know personally, are guilty of REAL lies and yet accuse others without proof of falsehoods; oh well, that is for upcoming trials and my end 2013 memoir Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! to detail. This post however is not about those dishonest, hateful and delusional nemesis we are REALLY suing/having law enforcement investigate but instead about my wonderful Father, Abraham H. Solomon and President Abraham Lincoln, as well as the patriarch of my [Jewish]  people, Abraham.

All who knew my dear Father made frequent quipped reference to “honest Abe” … Abe Solomon, like Abe Lincoln thought REAL truth [not faux postured too often pretense of truth] paramount to a life well lived. As the wonderful Spielberg movie, Lincoln, examines our 16th President’s ability to know what is honest and what only a guise for nefarious underpinnings, so did my Father. For is not REAL honesty that which is not only truth based but equally without self delusional and oft times dangerously evil intentional effort? Neither my Father nor Lincoln were naive in thinking one could be blatant in truth telling in the face of REAL evil doers – more subtle and sophisticated honesty made a must by ones nemesis. Of course, we all know that [as my very erudite Mother often said] old adage, “those who are REAL lie tellers, always think others are as well”; so true as is proven often when investigating the REAL underpinnings of ones accusers.   Being REALLY truthful, as Lincoln and Abe Solomon were, is a mindful task. This does not equal statements that are false or obfuscating  but instead adherence to REAL facts that best form a coherent and positive tonality. Fortunately – as I reference often in my blog – not only moral biblical dictates but modernity legal systems present recourse to those so sorely dishonest among us. How my own amazing Father and President Lincoln managed to deal with the REALLY loathsome lie tellers who posture as otherwise, is a lesson I gleam from daily.

Judaism has as its founding father, Abraham. A man not perfect nor without failure and still the person who birth a nation – we Hebrews who gave the world monotheism and REAL codified law. The Jewish patriarch, like my Father and Lincoln, had many troublesome lessers to deal with – honesty always at the forefront of all these men’s efforts and yet each had amazing and REAL success on account of their innate ability to recognize and properly deal with the unseemly enemies they faced. I am REALLY blessed – so many REALLY honest men in my life  … my own husband Chester M. Eliasz-Solomon is unique in his own [now legally disowned/disinherited] family as he and his dear Father are the ONLY truly honest males in that group of individuals. I and others are often rendered bewildered as to how my husband came from such dysfunction but then was not Abraham singularly blessed among the early Hebrews as well. I do not reach too far in my comparable analysis that REALLY good men like my Father, President Lincoln and my husband are similar to the Hebrew patriarch in their fortitude and determination to thwart all REAL evil doers, whilst maintaining their integrity.

P.S. It was not lost on myself or my siblings that our Father being compared to Abe Lincoln and our dear Mother’s name being Mary was interesting. However, even though I am convinced Mary Todd Lincoln was misunderstood and unfairly maligned, my feminist amazing equal partner to my Father in all things, Mother was the opposite in personality to our 16th First Lady. Oh yes, one last thing  – in my opinion, the Oscar should go to Spielberg, Daniel Day-Lewis and all nominated for the movie Lincoln!!!

Your Scrotum Should Concern Our SCOTUS!!!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

Not being sarcastic dear readers/followers … thinking if my vagina and reproductive organs are going to be the concern of the Supreme Court Of The United States should Romney win in November 2012 and therefore have the opportunity to place extreme anti-women judges on the highest court in our great nation – well then – right back at you Scrotum fellows. You see if we REAL Americans are to be REALLY equal, I believe it is only fair that male genitalia and male reproductive parts be included in our national conversations. Because darlings – if  my [considerably attractive] body gets chatted up by and to SCOTUS, then it dam well better be ditto for you guys.

The REAL meaning of sarcasm is a cutting remark  [distinguished from irony according to most authorities – NOT what a idiot under educated Michigan “impotent” loser guy thinks it means … I know, enough – even here I just can not help myself – those miscreant creeps are just so dam easy to mock, lol]  but my being clever or using a sarcastic tone here does NOT mean there is no seriousness to the issues concerning gender and other such matters. What is REALLY important  is the topic of why this November 2012 election matters so much in reference to the Supreme Court. Trust me – as you all know, Presidents, Senators, Congress persons come and go – in fact frequently but oh baby, the justices stay around for a very long time – a life time residency on SCOTUS is their term in office and we are ALL subjects of their very powerful realm. The laws of this great land affect each and every U.S. citizen for generations – daily life often determined and structured by what the Court decides – so it is an imperative issue that denotes you REALLY care about who the next president will nominate/place on SCOTUS … made even more important and relevant because a few of our current sitting Court members are aged and therefore will most likely need to be replaced in the next administration’s term.

In other blog posts concerning politics and women I have written about my feminist progressive wonderful parents, my devoted feminist husband [who you know by now legally took my last name/had our children do the same], my supportive feminist male friends and colleagues as well … my life made easier and blessed by these REALLY pro women individuals. By the way, not ALL my referenced feminist friends and family are liberal nor Democrats but what they ALL are is REALLY conscious and caring about the rights of women here in U.S. and throughout the world. How can a man or a woman for that fact deny that those who are female are again/currently under attack – our reproductive rights at great risk on account of right wing extremist GOP operatives who are determined to go all the way to the Supreme Court to deny women abortion and birth control and, as I was able to conceive through, assisted reproductive medical services. The REAL question is why – why – why would anyone want to control every of the most intimate and personal aspects of a woman’s life? What possible reason can justify denying a pre adolescent girl who conceives through violent rape – possibly via incest – the right to terminate that pregnancy? Likewise what could be the impetus to stopping a woman like myself – with my/my husband’s own funds – from pursuing having children by fertility treatments methods like IVF and IVM? It is so perplexing – difficult to even contemplate the true reasons that men and yes women want to deny these basic and most inalienable rights to America women and in fact women throughout this vast world. I am sure the answers are varied – some nefarious and others most probably coming from what those individuals perceive as G-d’s intent [although how anyone can REALLY know what G-d is thinking is beyond me]. Well no matter the explanation and justification for wanting to control all of women’s existence – it MUST not be allowed – because this is that proverbial “slippery slope” so often referenced in political and social arguments. We are at the Waterloo of our times dear ladies – to the men who REALLY love us too – this battle must NOT be lost to the extremist fanatics. Too much is at stake – it is far too frightening to accept a nation/a world where the female population must adhere to the dictates of a minority hell bent on full and total control in accordance with their own perceived views of morality.

In my blog post I Say Vagina & You Can Too!!! [19 June 2012] I discussed, among other issues, GOP types being offended that the word vagina is used by politicians addressing abortion rights, etc.. Really – are you kidding me? Someone finds an anatomical description offensive but not vaginal probes prior to a legal pregnancy termination decision by a woman – go figure – what some folks think G-d would find objectionable is beyond me. These same individuals – men and women alike – do not seem to be offended by the plethora of Viagra ads and such nor the overt sexually oriented TV shows and movies abundant in our society … not that there is anything wrong with those fine America products. Are you thinking what I am always thinking concerning this contrast – yes it is HYPOCRITES. So I want to help – help these extremist get right with G-d by making fair and even the playing field and I want to do that by making scrotum topical and of major judicial concern … you know codifying under the laws of this great nation what one [men] can and can not do with and to their scrotum/reproductive parts – those plentiful spermatozoon should have their day in court too.

On a more realistic note – we, women and men who love us – MUST vote for the Presidential candidate, as well as those running for Senate and Congress who will absolutely 100% protect and defend the rights of ALL Americans .., I believe, without partisan prejudice, that currently the ONLY choice is therefore to reelect Barack Obama and elect other Democratic candidates – including and especially women running for office in 2012 – like my dear and amazing friend Kristin Cabral for Congress in Virginia. PLEASE vote as if your life depends on it this November because it REALLY does this time. May G-d bless ALL Americans and this great nation!!!

P.S. In my tell ALL memoir, Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! much will be included about the female AND male feminist in my life – how that REAL concern and determination that I and other women had FULL right and opportunities made my REALLY wonderful life possible – lucky me!!!

Fighting Intolerance And Hate With A Heart Full Of Compassion!!!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

By now all my readers and followers must know about the great joy last January 2012 when my husband legally took my last name – which I did as well and likewise OUR children. Much paper work, great expense and a day in court was well worth us becoming the uniquely legally only Eliasz-SOLOMONS on the planet.  Touching was the judge’s reaction to our application – when he questioned my husband and I on the issues for our name change  – this kind judge thought it lovely that my husband wanted to honor my amazing special Solomon family, have OUR children that we went through difficult costly fertility treatments to conceive have that legally combined last name and he seemed sympathetic to my husband’s plight of wanting to no longer have the same last name as those “evil doers” [by the way, now self claimed on Facebook but definitely NOT trademarked] my husband and I reference so often. We shared EVERYTHING about ourselves that day in court and were moved by the support and understanding we received. Each new driver’s license, passport, bank statement, legal document, etc. that was officially produce with our new last name was thrilling – we even saved envelopes from greeting cards, invitations, thank you notes coming from charities, the Obama campaign and such that were addressed Eliasz-SOLOMON. Also comforting – especially for my husband [reasons in other blog posts and ALL in my 2013 memoir] was that our birth certificates are now changed – so for my husband he is no longer that person legally that his birth name denotes him as being. Now only thing left is to have our sweet Labrador, Princess Java Argus be registered again on her AKC association, as she was listed three years ago as a Solomon-Eliasz [on my must do list asap]. What does this have to do with fighting intolerance and hate? Well my darling readers – in one of my previous post, 16 August 2012, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, Misanthropes And Miscreants In [MY] Everyday Life!  I mentioned my involvement in many causes [don’t worry none of those pest are being discussed in this post but let me assure they actually are reading my blog – yes they can read surprisingly – we know because “Internet Ninja” says they now are attempting to be like me with prayers & photos [1 each] of their rather limited life accomplishments on fb – however they get words mixed up – like mistaking  phrase “believed to be true” for “accused”].  In that post I wrote about being humbled each time I enter my home study seeing the plagues, certificates and awards that have been so graciously bestowed on myself, my husband and my parents/family. Problem is need name change on these lovely mementos … thinking our young children will be saying things like why is that a different name Mommy? On some even my unique Albanian origin spelled first name is misspelled  – you can see here that my hero Morris Dees of  The Southern Poverty Law Center wrote Teteza [sic] – OY VEH – but anyway the real issue is that myself and my husband are determined that as moral, religious, feminist we two will fight against ALL prejudices so that our children and others are not enslaved nor denied their rights.

We are very ritualistic in our home – awake daily at 4:30 a.m. – starting with pray, breakfast, family time, doggie walks, emails to be answered, exercise, personals, and then a husband and wife meeting – going over that day schedules, etc.. The additional daily task seems to somehow always include a chat about the injustices in our morning papers, online messages and such – we are not big TV viewers [in fact no one under 3, except for our Lab is allowed TV watching] and so except for our home gym TV, each day begins with the imperative to read the world’s events. Mostly outrage is the result – as both my husband and myself are devout feminist, these morning conversations are full of concern for the ever growing hateful misogynistic tone toward women around the world, including here in America. We are people deeply religious – myself and our children Jewish and my husband Catholic – while different, the same in that we two see a moral imperative that justice for all must be the order of this world and so every evening when grace is said at our family dinner table we include [in both Hebrew and English] a special request for blessing of this troubled world. Chester Michael Eliasz-Solomon writes a blog mikeeliasz.wordpress.com, which often addresses the issues of injustice against many and I am proud/thrilled to say on issues concerning women. His Facebook and Twitter pages are FULL of very pointed and specifically directed postings about those in society who would deny women their rights – my husband names names and is brave in his determination to make mine, any daughters G-d might bless us with and all the many women relatives/friends he cares so deeply about, a life without constrains dictated by men.  In fact, my amazing husband often seems almost more vitriolic than myself on issues of women’s rights. In many of his wise and erudite blog posts my husband presents salient explanations through his political references of why we all must be involved in protecting women, especially in this anti science GOP atmosphere. Let me assure you that it is a constant goal for my husband to highlight injustice, hate and intolerance – one that occupies much of his writing life and a good part of his considerable intellectual energy these days. We both believe that the world is on that proverbial slippery slope backwards – back to subjugating women to the dictates of faux moral standards. My husband inspired – no make that insisted I write the blog posts, 6 May 2012, 2012 GOP War On Women!!! and my very popular, 19 June 2012, I Say Vagina & You Can Too!!! – not only because he is a devoted feminist but also on account of believing any injustice is a lead to more marginalization of many others. Sort of asking for whom the bell tolls kind of question – with the answer, it tolls for thee as a reasoning for why everyone must be concerned no matter your own life categorization.

What bigger injustice is there than denying health care to people … making it affordable to only a select group and even then making profit motive and costs more important than medical care and outcomes. I wrote a blog Why ACA is Obama’s FDR Moment! on 30 June 2012, the day The Supreme Court upheld it as constitutional. I was very involved as a volunteer and proudly displayed in that blog post [and here again] my signed framed certificate from President Obama for my efforts via emails, meetings and such in passing ACA. In fact, my husband and I sat in his home office with laptops, iphones, ipads and the rare day time TV on as the SCOTUS announcement was made – a friend of mine running for Congress was there and as she relayed the great news only seconds after the announcement, I  feared hacking because the news was such a welcome surprise. Hubby and I did a lot of amens and exciting shout outs that afternoon  – even friends not believing in so called Obamacare called or text that day with congratulations as they remembered  my hard work on this effort and saw the pride my signed Presidential certificate brought me when visiting my home.

The Jewish faith is the world’s template for ethics, morality, justice and tolerance … birthing the Christian faith from its tenants. Sadly, not everyone got that memo and so we are faced today with extremist on the right side of the U.S. political spectrum and ignorant faux Christians that pontificate hateful, offensive and ignorant diatribes that are anything but of G-d. In fact, just recently I was sent the apparently newly faith based posting from a social media page of what is obviously a antisemitic posing as a informed Christian. Trust me – I have REAL extended family, REAL friends and even REAL priests and REAL ministers in my life who will agree that this miscreant’s pointed “Thought For Today” was that of an uneducated and offensive person. There are so many like this woman who think they know G-d and yet are completely disconnected from REAL faith. Blessed am I to have many individuals – of ALL faiths – who do REALLY understand G-d’s words. I have maternal Albanian Muslim heritage, was raised and am raising my children 100% Jewish and their father/my husband is a scholarly Catholic – a saintly man who recoils at this misunderstandings of others who claim his faith but no nothing of its true meaning. In my blog post, Why Being Jewish Makes Me Untouchable Or Judaism 101 For Dummies!!!  [4  August  2012], I discussed Judaism difficulties in that it is an erudite and quite sophisticated faith – not for the faint of heart in my opinion. My gentile husband is amazed and says impressed with my daily Torah and Talmud studies – as well as, my daily effort to live as best I can the obligations and dictates of a good Jewish life. Of course, husband and I are equally impressed by our many REAL extended friends and family who live a daily existence of REAL Islam or Christianity or other REAL religious philosophies. In the book, Many Paths, One Destination, the author Ram Ramakrishman examines compassion and understanding as taught/seen by many of the world’s religions – differences and more often commonalities. Unfortunately there are too many among us who are hypocrites – never adhering to the prescribed ideals of decency that most major religions and even some (what I call) bogus online pay your $ and get your DVD “religions” promote [oh no, there I go again referencing one of the miscreants – sorry]. Still as long as REALLY honorable – any legitimate path to tolerance and compassion should be welcomed by us all.

Judaism demand courts of law be established … from our ancient beginnings until now, we Jews are involved in the justice system. I belong to and have raised funds for The Innocence Project. For how can a nation be great if anyone of its citizens are unjustly prosecuted? My late and very wise father often spoke the idea that better ten guilty men/women go free, than one innocent person is unfairly convicted. Another slippery slope and our nation’s potential tragedy is privatizing and thus making our prison system a profit margin business. No greater task faces us than to have REAL justice done for ALL people here and around the world – a court system without prejudice is the only solution that should be sought. My feminist/hates all injustice husband encouraged me to have my memoir 2013 book Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life!  published for many reasons – one of which is to promote REAL justice through some parts of my life story that involve such issues.

One of my future blog post will be A Political Life – probably during the RNC and DNC conventions – in that I will further discuss how my parents and then/now myself and my husband participate in, donate to and keep informed on all political aspects of this nation and others. I actually am a registered Democratic Committee person in the area where we still own a home in Pennsylvania and I even ran for office a few years ago but withdrew when we discovered I was pregnant – even so I got almost 80 votes [will show that surprising document in political topic blog post]. I have a dear gal pal running for Congress this year – a devout Catholic whose baby gift to our twin sons were two beautiful hard back books on Judaism – of course, I told her she must inscribe [again] with Congress Person Auntie when she wins in November. Our first term Obama inauguration invitation [seen here] is framed and place proudly on our piano, along with other mementos and photos. Husband and I are doing everything possible to help assure a 2nd invite to this event in celebration of the two term Obama Administration. This is relevant to a post on tolerance in that  we sincerely feel ONLY the Democrats at this time can guarantee that ALL Americans will have equal rights and opportunities – that acceptance of differences concerning race, religion, sexual orientation will be maintained in this great nation.

For me – informed by my Jewish faith – compassion does not mean to subjugate oneself to denigration. Indeed self preservation and a protective stance against all enemies is mandated by G-d, as each of us is created as a gift meant to survive the world’s struggles. Judaism does not promote a martyr complex and as my very wise Mother warned, “Choose carefully that road, as ultimate martyrdom can only be done well once”. Instead the perfect goal should be a sharing and caring for others as you would yourself but never at all costs – instead as an equality that allows for the self and others to prosper. Real compassion means allowing those good and worthy to equal in tone that which one wishes for themselves. Never to be confused with sacrifice – sharing is the path to REAL justice. In my home and personal life I find each day the imperative to reach out and make sure those I love are well and not in need. Likewise, Judaism dictates a community sharing – a defined requirement for charitable acts. I and my husband attempt a life where everyone we encounter – no matter the level of relationship is addressed with dignity and generosity. This does not mean showboating or obvious denotation of each of our acts of  good deeds. Yes, the accolades are lovely and meaningful but the totality of our life choices in helping others is what best defines us. In no way does G-d want us to be tolerant toward evil or hate – not ever should one condom or ignore the perpetrators of hate. It is this task – this mandate that must inform all REALLY decent persons. Yes, a heart full of love and compassion can help heal the world’s ills but equal is a soul and mind determined to right injustices and combined to fight intolerance. May G-d bless ALL people of REALLY good intentions and may others be brought to justice by laws and the judgement that G-d deems just!!!

Science, Nature And Religion As One Or Mommy Why Is The Sky Blue???

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

Albert Einstein made many statements on the issue of G-d, science and nature. Among other poignant ideas from this Jewish genius was, “Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind.“. This is very Talmudic – that which those of us who are in pursuit of scholarly Jewish study use as one of  life templates for instruction on such matters. So it is that unlike most other faiths,  Judaism, allows for and even promotes an acceptance of science, as well as a respect and reverence of nature.

For me Judaism and Science were never more appropriately combined than during recent discussions about CERN, near Geneva, Switzerland where the so called G-d particle is being sought. In my Jewish home the alarm was set for the 4 July 2012 early morning announcement – up before our usual daily 4:30 a.m. to hear live streamed coverage on our ipad and laptops. Of course, I am married to and mother of his ONLY children, @REAL _HiggsBoson [that it is my erudite science geek husband, Chester Michael Eliasz-Solomon]. Hubby and I although of different faiths – myself and our children Jewish and he Catholic  – share a firm believe that G-d and science are NOT incompatible. In fact, we are 100% convinced that there is empirical scientific proof that G-d exists. Again, just last week, our family waited with iphones, ipads and laptops at the ready for NASA to announce that the Curiosity, Mars Rover (video) had safely landed. Why you might be asking in our religious home all this science watchfulness? Easy answer is we see a magnificence that only G-d could be responsible for by creating this universe and all of us/those who make such accomplishments and discoveries even possible – that is the WOW factor and OMG shouts that accompany such events!

My faith is full of references to nature – there are continuing dictates in Judaism as to the need to praise and give thanks for the world’s fauna and foliage. We Jews have actual tree holidays, called Tu Bishvat/New Year of the Trees. I and others have often called us Jews the original environmental ecology group. Nothing pagan here – no false idol worship but instead a denotation of G-d’s natural gifts to us his chosen and all people. We, the Jews and the nation of Israel are big tree planters … I myself have spent much on The Jewish National Fund tree planting service to honor births, marriages and in memory of those passed from this life. Israel Land Administration is a government body whose sole purpose is the protective management of land. How can one claim to love and respect G-d and not care for the world he gave us? Hence there is nothing but reverence for faith by care taking the natural world. There are some however in the extreme Christian right who on account of their misplaced idea that the next life is the only glory think it wrong to maintain well this life’s home – Earth. Troublesome to think extremist are either determined to destroy this world in order to facilitate some sort of messianic event or feel the human dominion over the planet’s resources means no stewardship is needed as a protective measure.

Of course, there are the extremists on the other side who deny all and any omimpotent power as part of this grand scheme – no force and no connection to a higher power is acceptable to stringent atheists. There are times when I understand how the zealots in some religions cause others to reject ALL possibility that G-d is a part of science and nature. Not to be deterred, I and many feel it is a obvious equation that science = nature = G-d and visa verse. My husband joins me in teaching our children reverence for this glorious planet while never worshiping other than one G-d. We both have [among others] degrees in different sciences and see nothing disparate in being both logical thinkers and prayerful individuals. How can one watch a baby born without seeing the presence of a miracle – a divine design? The G-d particle being sought at CERN is to me a defining confidence that a G-d exists … how glorious the creation of life is as we learn our origins. No,  the literal, especially Christian [mis] interpretation of  The Bible can not be sufficient as explanation of our human existence but the pursuit of the nuanced beginning can be proof of the magic that began it all. So you see no one need choose either or as far as faith and science are concerned – these ideals can co-exist quite nicely if one only approaches the subject with a open mind.

When my beloved father, Abraham was diagnosed with the dreaded disease mesothelioma in 1986, I researched every treatment and possible cure. I called, visited and wrote to researchers and doctors all over the world. Then I learned that one of my father’s and mine favorite science writers, Stephen Jay Gould had himself been stricken with peritoneal mesothelioma in 1982 – which he had written about in an article concerning beating this disease’s eight months after diagnosis usual death statistic. He had been operated on and was living since for then nearly four years. [he died from an unrelated cancer in 2002].  This brilliant and prophetic writer corresponded with me – supporting my obvious futile effort to save my father, as the disease was always fatal. None the less, Gould warmed me by ending his last letter sent to my home by saying how lucky my father was to have a child love him as I did and if any cure was to be found, he [Gould] knew I would seek it out. Great flattery and a comfort to me. My father tragically died a year later but he shared, like with so much else between us, an enlightenment through Gould’s work with me. In the book Hen’s Teeth And Horse’s Toes, Gould reminds us how sad it would be if evolution, as one of half dozen “great ideas” developed by science were not properly taught in schools. Of particular interest to us Jews and to my husband, who is a genealogist is the notation in this book concerning the profound issues of  the “roots” phenomena that ask where did we come from and how did life itself arise? In another of his books, Ever Since Darwin, Stephen Jay Gould discusses the potential problem of us humans seeking immortality – a way to through science of unlocking the keys to our death. Such as those answers can deter a life from joy and being in the moment, so can ignoring the bountiful gift from G-d that science amazes us with and nature intrigues in so many ways.  Wonderment can bring questions yes but also a comfort in a grander scheme – frightening at times but ultimately soothing if an acceptance of G-d is at hand. For as Gould was in his childhood so are we in ours and it is this that his book The Panda’s Thumb discusses in its simple question on why the adorable Panda has a “thumb” but is not like ours that gives that Oh moment that combines divine acceptance with real understanding.

Richard Dawkins wrote in The Selfish Gene that only since Charles Darwin can one even attempt to correctly answer a child’s question as where it is we [humans] come from. There is no issue nor problem in describing to that child the evolution of our species intertwined with the acknowledgement of G-d’s work in creating us. Why an either or answer? No need as even Darwin wrote and spoke of the wonderment and initiating presence of life on Earth. This father of modern evolutionary science believed that G-d was the ultimate lawmaker. When a child ask why the sky is blue can not the answer include climate and color [scientific] phenomenon called scattering, along with because G-d made it that way – in totality being a truthful answer. Dawkins writes that intelligent life comes of age in the sense and time where we can explain our reason for existing but I, like many, do not believe the reason need be linear or even tangible – only fulfilling by means of an understanding that G-d presented the tools in nature and science for us and all here to be real.

In a previous post, I wrote about being a bit of an egg head type gal – becoming nearly obsessed in 198o’s with the string theory. Reading all articles and the books published on this topic I, like others eventually calmed down and realized it was not the complete universal truth to existence and design. In The Elegant Universe, Brian Greene discusses the quest for the ultimate theory. Greene explains that even though our string theory excitement might have been justified, by 1985 physicists realized this was not one but five different ways resulting in theories that differed substantially. We superstring devotees could only be left, if sensible, admiring but again assured something bigger was the answer – no one threaded path to the the why and how of  it all.

Let me end by sharing what my Jewish religious G-d believing science [ along with so many other subjects] educated and extremely erudite, well read father taught me about eternal life: As matter does not ever dissipate, so we will always be present in life in this world and in the stars. As we all come from star dust, so shall we remain as particles in earth and spirit in hearts, as well as alive in remembrance of others. We therefore are eternal!!!

P.S. I look forward to sharing in my now finally decided on date soon to be released book,  Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! so much more about my wise parents, as well as how my husband & I are similarly determined to raise our twin sons, Aleksander Benjamin & Chase Joseph [+ any other children we are blessed with] with a love of science, nature & G-d.

Why Being Jewish Makes Me Untouchable Or Judaism 101 For Dummies!!!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

Proud to be a Jew – Yes I am! For me, Judaism has provided a life template and has never failed as a force for my salvation. Of course, other faiths provide the same for their followers,  but for myself Judaism is the answer and my solution for a life well lived. I am the benefactor of my own Jewish religion’s philosophies but have also benefited greatly from the REAL Christian values of friends, extended family and colleagues. For my atheists and agnostic brethren … do not fret, I acknowledge that humanists can and are good, decent and caring. I also recognize and admit that religion has often been used for justification of war and mistreatment of others. What I write here is an expression of my own personal relationship to G-d that is guided and informed by Judaism. My hope is that ALL good, decent and worthwhile people who read this will be directed toward a spiritual life. The rest – those oft referenced  miscreants, evil doers, “cult” participants/false idol worshipers and usurpers can be punished by their own evil deeds, as G-d [and the legal system] sees fit.

Judaism 101 – a primer for Jew and Gentile alike offers a synopsis of why G-d chose us and gave we Jewish people the directive for monotheism. Like other groups, mine has members who both misunderstand and misuse the teachings of our faith … for to follow the path of Judaism is to lead a life of blessings and glory. As with much of my writing, I state here that there is no perfection – no life without struggle, missteps or failings. But there is – for me through Judaism – the chance and opportunity for a life full and blessed  with joyfulness.

My many hints and innuendos – the necessitated vagueness on account of ongoing. litigation plus more recent possible civil criminal [cyber crime] charges against those I refer to as the miscreants and my  book obligations: Heiress Mommy … A Modern Super Woman Life! again render me only able to share that there has been times of deep sorrow and often undeserved pain in my past. What I can share loud and clear is that without equivocation my entire life has been one blessed by G-d … never has there been a time when grace of faith has not saved me from tragedy. Yes there has been luck, hard work and happenstance that made a difference and somehow lead me to always a  glorious place in my life but as my husband has called me since we met and we recently trademarked, Tereza Triumphant™ is a child and benefactor of G-d.

I often tell gentiles that Judaism is not for the faint of heart … to practice well my faith is heavy lifting. Oy veh – do we have rules and must dos. Judaism has what I have deemed a definite lifestyle manual tone – there is a reason for and a suggestion about every aspect of life. No one – certainly not me – performs all exactly as Judaism instructs but for myself between daily prayer and ongoing study a continuous redirecting has never failed to get me to the best possible result. I am both informed and guided by the principle of my forefathers – Abraham, Moses, et.al. The women of the Bible – be it Ruth or Esther and the rest teach me what it means to be a good Jewish wife, mother and citizen. I often think of my brave gentile husband/father of my Jewish children, Chester Michael Eliasz-Solomon as a male Ruth who came as an outsider, converted to Judaism and begot King David [his great grandmother and hence is connected/as ancestor to the Messiah]. Ruth was a blessing to my people – much as my husband is in that he is devoted to myself, our children and my faith – my husband legally [January 2012] took my Jewish last name and as such his/our children who are being raised 100% Jewish are legally Solomons too.  A true gift in my life is that my Catholic husband keeps our homes 100%  kosher, observes Shabbot each week with me and fully participates in all Jewish holidays – but he is not singular in my life in that way as it is the same with my friends/extended non Jewish family in that they all respect and participate in my very Jewish life style.

There is, like so many other topics, a Judaism for Dummies book. I mention it not because I think most of you are too ignorant to understand my complicated and often erudite religion but because for Jew and gentile both – a path made simple and understandable can often be the bridge back to or further toward a life of faith. In this book is the pray my husband and I and G-d willing our children will repeat often and believe in fully … it is the prayer for celebrating by being present for something new:

Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheynu Melech ha-olam, sheh-heh-chi-yanu v’key’manu v’hee-gee-anu laz’man ha-zeh.

Blessed are You, Eternal One our G-d, Universal Presence,

Who keeps us in Life always,

Who supports the unfolding of our uniqueness, and

Who brings us to this very moment for blessing.

I end this post with this particular idea because as my husband and I have discovered, it is that our willingness to have eyes to see, hearts to feel and faith in G-d’s plan was the route to achieve all forms of success for us by being present. I gift it to ALL of you, no matter your chosen religion or lack thereof so they each of you, like me, can feel truly untouchable – never thwarted by evil, never deterred by miscreants and NEVER EVER defeated by evil!!!

Chariots Of Fire, The Olympics And Munich’s Shame!

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

Perfection as a goal  in the world of sports can elevate a human being to heights that can only be described as euphoric. In previous posts, I discussed my own parents and my and my husband’s similar insistence that the children in our family, like ourselves, participate in sports [ my dear husband took no chances our twin sons would not love sports – their main nursery was sports themed from the beginning – even the crib mobiles]. I have also mentioned that for my family athletics has never been about making it to the Olympics or being a professional sports star [unless, of course, that was destined to be and desired] but instead it was about  being both physically fit and also about getting to be part of a team effort – in my 2013 book: Heiress Mommy …A Modern Super Woman Life! I will include my own dependence on athletics and sports at some very sad times in my own life. Another important issue is that  too many minimally talented young people are lured and convinced that they are sports super stars, when indeed they are not – leading to an unfulfilled destiny and I feel, unhappy life. In another blog post I wrote about the idea and personal philosophy that mind, body and soul are all intertwined – so it was for the original Olympic participants – where even poetry was part of the training. The reason I am including this in an Olympic themed blog post is that when my family goes to [as I have been so privileged to have done once] or sits down to watch the Olympics it will be with pure joy and for the love of the games with no prejudice or self interest nor fantasy about our own athletic prowess  …except, this year [2012] brings sadness as well – for Munich’s shame is now London’s shame as there will apparently be no moment of silence for those massacred in 1972.

Empatheia and pathos are Greek words for passion and suffering – a perfect and accurate description of each Olympiad’s quest for glory. The ideal sought by these athletes should not ever be marred by politics but tragically the modern day Olympics games have seen far too much of that exact situation. The origins of the modern Olympic games began when  French Citizen Pierre de Coubertin spoke at the Sorbonne in 1894 attempting to convince The International Congress that the Olympic games needed to be restored as a response to the French defeat during the Franco-Prussian War.  So it was that two years later in 1896 the world began the  route toward lighting the torch. Even though wars and world strife have rarely interrupted the Olympics there were cancellation during both WWI and WWII. The glory lies in that  even when that occurred, the shared dreams of the athletes remained resolute and forward thinking to the next Olympic games – bringing financial gains and improved image to its host cities throughout the world. . As one should in private life, athletes involved overcame and redirected themselves toward victory but there is no way to ignore the societal issues that have indeed been part of the Olympic games over the years.

The 1981 British film Chariots Of Fire depicts beautifully the story of the 1924 Olympic games where a British Jew ran and won as a way to overcome prejudice and antisemitism. The other main character is based on a devout Scottish Christian who runs for the glory of G-d. These two men demonstrate a respect and friendship based on their shared determination as fellow Olympiads – should not that be the template of ALL sports? Hitler used the 1936 Olympics to presente a false narrative concerning his monstrous world domination plans and his design to annihilate the Jews. The most on site tragic Olympic event was undoubtedly the 1972 massacre in Munich of the Israeli athletes – sadly, at this year’s 2012 London Summer games no moment of silence will occur for these slain Jewish sportsman. One must ask if global antisemitism and misplace  hatred of Israel is the reason – for why then was the  tragic death of a Georgian luge athlete at the last Winter Olympics granted a  moment of silence and recognition. Is the group of Olympic officials who are responsible for such decisions really hateful of we Jews and Israel or are they allowing their decision to be determined by other nations wanting Israel destroyed? No Matter the real reason – ALL athletes and ALL who support the Olympics should be concerned – politicizing on account of nationality or religion is definitely a slippery slope away from the Olympic glory.

We Diaspora Jews and Israelis are nothing if not a determined and resilient and optimistic group of people – we will NEVER be deterred nor denied. As such, our presence and success at this 2012 Summer Olympics and all to come will be felt. The triumphs of my people has served as an example to ALL the world – athlete and others – that anything, no matter the strength of one’s enemy, can be overcome and victory achieved!!!

P.S.  I hope everyone will join my family in supporting our U.S. First Lady, Michelle Obama in promoting a national dialogue and effort on fitness and nutrition …our wonderful FLOTUS will be leading an Olympic activity called “Lets Move!” for our brave military service men and women’s children this week at our London U.S. Embassy!

Hearts Of Darkness

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

In Joseph Conrad’s Heart of Darkness, his philosophy of materialistic mysticism  combines the attitude and acceptance that this world is both complicated and awe inspiring. Conrad was, like most of us, a combination of optimism and pessimism – while maintaining the desire to comprehend and possibly even change the darkness into light. What exactly does Conrad’s famous quote “the horror, the horror”   mean to us today as we deal with the continuing almost daily. as well as many yet still unresolved historical atrocities?

Too often and for totally understandable reasons – we who suffer through as observers or even victims of unexplained tragedies – look for logical answers and ways to access the situation logically. Questions of motive or societal structures/problems are brought into every conversation in an attempt to make clear why such things happen. More important is that we search to try making sure that which just occurred will not again.

In my Jewish faith there are avenues toward understanding and forgiveness of/for evil actions. There is also an acknowledgement of pure evil existing – that which can not be accepted nor changed toward good. In Ethics of The Fathers (!:7) we are instructed to “distance ourselves from a bad neighbor, And to not bond with a degenerate person…”. Easier said than done – error in judgement is a common human frailty – dating or marrying the wrong person, associating with bad character friends, going to an unsafe place or event and so on. In my personal life, my husband was wise enough to choose total complete legal disowning and disinheritance and complete separation from evil doers who were threatening to our well being – this was a difficult and complicated process – one which most but not all well intention persons in our life supported. We, of course had the means, motivation and determination to make private our home addresses, install excellent security systems and prepare for a public life where  professional protection would be a part of our daily routines – all costly and time consuming efforts and such that most people can not or do not want to have as part of their life. More times than easily remembered we have thanked G-d after hearing of  others [we ourselves having already been vandalized] tragic familial crimes that we persevered in distancing our family from the enemy [more details in my 2013 book: “Heiress Mommy …A Modern Super Woman Life!”]. Too often people are lured or convinced by some bogus status quo that they must continue contact or involvement with dangerous friends or family – sadly these are far too frequently those people we read about/hear about on the news as victims. Of course, as with this past [July 2012] week’s events in Bulgaria and Colorado, not all victims had the opportunity or choice to not be exposed to evil.

Either as a result of some personal relationship or random or national/ethnic situation, all atrocities are happenstance to some extent. Obviously, as with The Holocaust, Munich Massacre, Bulgaria Tourist Bus Bomb, etc.  –  we Jews being targeted ONLY/SPECIFICALLY because of our faith or Israeli citizenship is uniquely egregious. The idea that any group is killed simply on account of where, how or to whom they were born is beyond the scope  of comprehension – this because there is none of the standard justifications of greed or persecution as motive for these murders. One could say all murder is irrational but who would argue that true self defense is not a rational choice. This brings us back to the effort to explain and access atrocities – why did they do it, etc.?

Of course, we must attempt through investigation and analysis to correct those circumstances that might motivate a person to commit a crime …attend to our collective children and those unwell emotionally so as to prevent for them and for the rest of us a horrible demise. But there should also be, in my opinion, an acceptance that there is such a thing as pure evil – hearts of darkness among us. These perpetrators of tragedy must not be allowed to diminish G-d’s great plan for human love and grace to prevail and thrive here on Earth!

The Establishment Clause of the U.S. Constitution

by Teréza Eliasz-Solomon (HeiressMommy™)

The ridiculous current GOP conversation about the perceived [bogus] attack on religion by the Obama administration is at best laughable and at its worst quite dangerous. Our brilliant Founders deeply feared an establishment of any state religion [Establishment Clause] – they knew how badly that turns out by being educated in the history of European nations where the Crusades, the Inquisition and other “at the end of a sword” religious conversions were army/government perpetrated and sponsored.

In this great nation, ALL can and do practice openly and freely the religion of their choice …including a few not quite palpable “cult” like practices. The Presidential 2012 GOP candidates are insulting the American sensibility by even suggesting that something like insurance covered contraception at hospitals and schools with a religious affiliation is any type of assault – there is NO assault by President Obama but there is an assault on ALL our freedoms because if [G-d forbid] Romney or Santorum  become President then you and I will then be mandated to practice our faiths as they deem correct instead of the Constitutional guaranteed religion of our own individual choice. I, myself, as a proud American Jew [with both Muslim and Christian ancestry]  is fearful of their rhetoric. May G-d bless the great U.S.A. and the memory of our brave Founders – who wanted to prevent our divine inspired nation from becoming a totalitarian theocracy (ex. Iran or the former Taliban run Afghanistan).

SHALOM!!!!
